Afternoon all :)

I would guess that those who are already mums may have more of an idea from experience but would be interested to see everyones thoughts! Right at this moment, and after seeing pics from my babyshower I'm incredibly excited about the prospect of retaining some sort of shape to my body (not that it was particularly defined before lol) but I'm also not naive enough to think I'm going to pop LO out, have an angelic baby who sleeps through the night and has suitable length naps for me to be able to fit in some hard core training at home.....

So realisticaly how long did it take you to shift the majority of your baby weight? And how soon after did you feel energised enough to be doing training sessions post birth? I mean running, gym etc.

More fool me I've been a total slacker throughout pregnancy so I'm going to have a tough time building back up but at least its a challenge I guess ;)

I rather unfortunately am not one of those people thats ever going to pop back into shape, my mum frequently tells me she's only just lost the baby weight from me (and I'm 25) after doing slimming world all summer! lol - now I appreciate 25 years is a bit excessive and down to her own slackness but in all seriousness how have you found it? I know every body shape is different but not all of you can be slim jims that are back in your size 10's within weeks from birth....

Or did you find that genuinely after the big arrival you were left so pre-occupied baby weight shifting was the last thing on your minds?

I cant remember how long it took me to shift the majourity of weight I think it was about 3 months...then i started to eat more just ebing at home and hope not to get that complacent again eeek

BUT one thing someone told me, that sounded nuts to me at first, was when the baby is having a nap run up and down the stairs as fast as you can as many times as you can holding a tin of beans in each hand. I was surprised how few times I could do this and it did my legs the world of good. I walked about alot with the pram and ate helathy with no restrictions so occasionly I would have the odd Mars bar as a treat but just tried not to pick and snack alot during the day as its soooo easy done.

I naturally have a small frame, but put on almost 60lbs with my son , but, after I had him, I drop 40 lbs the first month (probably would've been more if I was BFing) The last 20 took me another 2-3 months to get off... and can say that I was actually smaller then before I got pregnant with him. I just went back to my old eatting habits (usually one large meal a day). I wasn't dieting, that was just how I'm use to eatting. I'd say from my observations, that most women loose the bulk of the weight in the first few months. The rest is just toning (walking, etc.). :flower:
I've gained 30 lbs already, and still have a little over 2 months to go.... hopefully won't be another 30 lbs, LOL :)

I am due in the next week and have already started trying to get ready to lose the weight. I have been on restricted activity for almost a month and can not walk long because I have a load of pressure!! Anywho, I have started changing the way I eat now to help out later. I have started eating 98% fat free yogurt with fat free/ low fat granola and a banana cut up in it for breakfast every morning, salad for lunch, and a smoothie for an after dinner snack! In my smoothie I put ice, a good fruit juice that is 100% or close juice frozen strawberries and a banana !! Figure it has to be better than some of the stuff I started eating while prego!

I nver did! :-(

I lost a fair bit quickly with bf but once I stopped it seemed to pile back on. I'd just started a diet when I fell pregnant again and thought sod it. I'm already feeling a bit down about how I'm going to look post pregnancy.
With nothing to fit, and it being to cold to go for lots of walks. But I'm just gonna try snack less and stop eating all the junk I currently am and get out for walks with the buggy. A baby and a toddler up hills should be a good workout. I hope

I did treat myself to a new shirt in the size bigger than prw pregnancy, so I have something new to pop on to make me feel nice once squid is here

I think I've been relatively lucky this time round, I think I've only put on about a stone, not that I'm skinny anyway I'm about a size 18.

But the weight loss for me will be different, I have a gastric band, and when I had it fitted in April I didnt know I was pregnant so consequently it's never had any saline in it.

But in January I am going to the clinic and going to have my first fill. Then I'll have a fill either every month or every other month - not sure yet as it's £80 per fill plus travel to London from Oxford, which normally is £50 plus, but I'll book my tickets in advanced and you can get them dirt cheap.

But I am estimating a loss of around 1- 1 1/2 stone per month. That seems to be the going rate for most bandits.

I'm hoping that from an 18-20 I shall get down to a size 14 by late spring.

I'm hoping it won't take me too long to lose the weight, but I shall just be starting off by walking the dog when the weather is good enough and taking it as I can

Just wanna say great thread idea as i have been wondering the same! I've done no exercise whatsoever whilst pregnant (had no energy at all!!) and have put on 3 stone lol so im kind of worried incase i never get my pre preg body back! I was a size 8 before getting pregnant but have a feeling ill never be that agen! I plan on going for lots of walks with the pram and trying to eat healthy, although xmas probably isn't the best time to try and eat healthy haha.

I didn't have too much trouble losing weight after my other 2 kids. I was back in my jeans within 2 weeks with DD and buying a smaller size at 6 wks. The weight was gone by 6 wks. With my oldest, it was about 12 weeks. I gained 40-50 pounds with each of them, but I gained my weight on healthy food for the most part, and I walked throughout my pregnancies. Exercise-wise, I didn't do anything other than walking after about a month PP, and then doing pilates.

This time around, I'm planning on a high protein & whole grain diet with little or no processed sugars, walking 3-4x a week, pilates and strength training on the off days. Now that I'm 30, I have a feeling it may not be so easy.

I'm extremely lucky as my partner has excellent knowledge about fitness, and he'll be at home with me to kick my butt into gear.

While at home I'll be doing weight based workouts and interval training, then he can mind the baby while I go for waks etc.

I'm being wildly optimistic.

I haven't gained a huge amount this pregnancy so far (about 15/16lbs), and some of the fat around my love-handles has actually gone, so if breastfeeding is successful, I'm anticipating that I'll be able to lose the weight relatively quickly.

I plan to walk a fair amount with the buggy, and I'm hoping to get back to running a couple of months after she's here.

We'll see... for all I know, the weight I haven't put on so far could be just waiting around the corner.

I'm the same except it's me that the personal trainer, iv got weights and gym ball and recumbent cycle and mat etc at home. Iv been eating/craving reli sugary sweets.cakes, crisps EVERYTHING BAD!! I never used to eat this bad. So along with my (wait for it lol) extensive knowledge of diet and exercise...I'm vege, don't drink alcohol (as in hate it as have a phobia of being sick lol) and I'm gna breast feed. Ooooh and we have planned to stay at a familys holiday home in tenerife 3 months after baby so I have no choice but to get back to size 8 lol!! I have put on between 1.5-2 stone in weight and I have 7 weeks to go!! Anyway now I sound like a complete big head il be leaving now hahaha

Phinners I'm jealous! lol. I'd love to be loosing that amount per month, its going to take me forever! That and my apparent obsession for anything unhealthy!

I find it much easier maintain once its lost - even if I do it very qucikly and unhealthily than I do to loose it, I've got my favourite pair of jeans hanging in the wardrobe - you know the pair you can never bear to get rid of cuz its your ultra skinny pair - I love those jeans. It makes me so sad :( its going to be a long time before I can fit my backside in those again and we want to have number 2 so then I think maybe we should just do it straight away, the thought of loosing it all, then putting it back on is just tragic! lol

lottie... have you done pre/post natal training as part of your PT training or are you using general knowledge and back ground reading to adapt your training for post pregnancy? If its the latter any books/sources you can recommend? I'm struggling to find stuff specifically taylored

it took me about a year BUT i wasnt breastfeeding/dieting OR exercising. it just came off on its own.
HOWEVER i wasnt thin before or after the baby, im just telling you how long it took to get to how i was.
after this baby i plan to lose 40 kilos and i hope to manage it in 3 months after baby or at least half of that by then as its my brothers wedding

I certainly wouldnt be able to do it without that extra help that's for sure. I dont know how much saline they will put in, maybe 1ml at a time and see how I get on with that. But the average loss for most bandits is a stone per month - which for me equates to roughly 3/4 of a dress size. So fingers crossed I havent got a faulty one in!

I genuinely have NO idea how long it's going to take as I've never needed to or tried to lose weight before. I'm a small person anyway, usually a size 6/8 and weighed 8stone pre pregnancy. I've currently put on 1st 8lb with 2 and a half wks to go. My birthday is in the middle of feb so will try not to worry about actively trying to lose baby weight until around then. Up until then I just want to enjoy being a mum and get out for walks etc.

Im overweight but I dropped my pregnancy weight and some more within 12 weeks (I think breast feeding did it)

I'll keep mine crossed for you too! I'm sure it will go great for you :)

Before pregnancy, I fluctuated between 8.5 and 9 stone, and I was around 8 stone 10 when I conceived. I went to just over 11 stone in total during pregnancy.

I had my baby a week ago tonight (00.05am last Tues) and baby was 8lb 10. My belly was like blancmange when I woke after giving birth and about the size of 6mths pregnant when standing (flatter when lying down). Today I am 9.5 stone exactly. I am breastfeeding, I don't usually exercise or diet and I haven't done so far after giving birth, so I'm pretty pleased with how my body is recovering.

I wasn't sure what to expect either. I can't fit into my usual jeans yet but hopefully that will come. I wish I'd bought more post-pregnancy loose tops to wear to cover my belly lol.

Hey no u have to do an extra course but alot of info is basic knowledge from working in a gym and research I've done on Internet as it's the side of pt I'd love to do (helping ladies lose baby weight) there is also some decent videos on you tube if your serious about exercising..I'm that much of a freak with exercise that I'm getting upset not doing my regular exercise! It makes u feel great as it releases happy hormones like chocolate lol so anything u do will help u not get post natal depression. Alot of it is motivation tbh if u cnt be arsed to do it it don't matter how much u no lol.
