Edward is 2y7.5m and I feel like he's capable but I'm not sure if he's ready/wants to lol.

I've elected to try a phased approach. A couple of months ago I left him with no pants for the day and the potty available. He didn't have a single accident, but he refused to go on it the next day. I didn't push it and left him alone thinking after christmas I'd try again.

Today's the day. After school run I took his trousers and nappy off and left him to it. So far 1 wee and no problems but he keeps asking for his nappy and trousers back on. I don't know whether it's a comfort thing or just that he feels a bit cold and exposed without them lol. I'm not going to be able to go full throttle like I did with Earl because a. I have 2 hours of school runs a day and right now it's freezing out so not a good idea to go without nappies and risk hypothermia lol and b. he hasn't asked for this like Earl did. I think he likes the idea of pants etc but is like his father, a bit lazy when it comes to things of this nature. Unless they interest him greatly, he's not bothered lol. Worth a go though....will see how he is later on and then again tomorrow about trying again. If he is ok with doing it tomorrow then we'll opt for just some naked time every day for a week or 2 and then go from there. I would ideally like him out of nappies before his 3rd birthday which is in May so plenty of time.

Good luck.. Potty training is proving to be a lot more difficult than I ever imagined. My DD will be 3 in six days, and I so badly wanted her to be trained by her third birthday but it doesn't look like it's going to be the case.

I'm on my third attempt and I'm pretty determined this time. The twice I've tried before I've given up after a bad day, but this time she's been in pants since New Years Eve and nappies are off limits (except bed time obviously).

She was doing so well, then she had her first day back at playgroup on Tuesday. I told each teacher individually that she had been doing great but still needed reminded to go to the toilet occasionally. And I reminded Lily before I left that she had to ask to use the toilet if she needed to go. I also gave them three changes of pants/trousers/socks in case of any accidents.
She was there for 4 hours. When I picked her up I asked how she'd got on and they said she was in a pull up because she'd had an accident. They hadn't used any of the changes of pants I'd given them. I was a bit annoyed but it was her first time without me around since properly training.

I've stuck to it though.. She only goes to playgroup on Monday and Tuesday mornings so we have another week to work on it.

At this rate I'll be training my two together.. My son will be 2 in 5 weeks and he's desperate to be like his big sister! Lol

I'm trying not to rush him as he's a stubborn mule at times and if I push he'll rebel against me big time. He asked for his nappy back on at lunch time so I let him as I was hoping he'd have a short nap. He has now though asked to have it back off so I think he thinks it's a game :dohh:

Earl was exactly this age when he trained - his speech etc was a lot better though, although Edward can actually hold his wee etc which Earl couldn't.

I think I'll end up training my 2 together at this rate too. Edward is being so stubborn and Charlie is so curious about the potty, I think it's going to be a busy summer! lol :haha:

And that's really bad that they didn't at least try her out with the toilet training at play group. Do the kids have access to the toilets there? I remember Earl's old playgroup they had access at all times and they even used to do regular toilet call outs to the newly trained kids. They were so good about it but maybe we were lucky. I should imagine that next week she'll be further on and you'll have broken the back of it!

So sorry I only just seen your reply. She has access to the toilets at playgroup, but she does have to be reminded to go sometimes. I wish they'd tried a little more that day to be honest.

She's been back at playgroup yesterday and today, and come home dry and in the same clothes I sent her in both days. She seems to be doing well, but still the odd accident at home which I supoose is to be expected. My sister told me that obviously I'm properly ready to train her now because the accidents don't bother me like they have in the past. Lol.

How's your little guy getting on?

He's got himself the mother and father of all colds so I've taken pity on him. TBH I haven't been fully committed and he can/does use the potty but given the choice he'll go for a nappy lol.

He is doing ok though......it's going to have to wait until a school holiday to make the break from nappies properly though.
