Okay I know I’ll probably be judged but I’ve let DD stay in training pants too long she’s 4 and a half now and shows no interest. She’s not afraid of the toilet she has sat on it multiple time before . We’ve tried the three day method when she off from school we let her stay in just a long t shirt and I’ve kept my eyes on her too look for cues when she need to go but it feels like the second I turn my back to get a drink or for her she goes . I don’t have big reactions towards it because I want her to know it’s okay and I don’t want to scare her off. But it’s just not clicking for her .We bought cute mini mouse underwear and try going to the potty ever 30 /20 minutes but no luck . Any tips mamas ? Anything I can do differently?

The three day method seems to work better with younger toddlers in my experience. It was a good starting point to teach her what a potty was and how to use it. By 4 you can likely talk to her and set the expectations, with my daughter I just stopped using training pants in the day cold turkey. She was almost three and knew to use the potty but was just being a bit stubborn since she knew she had the training pants on. This worked for us but the trick was to fully commit. I never switched to pull ups for long car rides or public outings. Id tried before but would switch between them if I was worried about accidents and it just caused confusion and didn't work.

Yeah that’s what my little one is struggling with , i can feel she’ll get soon shes gone on the toilet twice with out accidents this past week . shes only in training pants at bed time but she seems to only go when im turned for a sec , or when she cant hold it anymore . I did have to put the training pants back on her a few times only because she had been constipated for 4 days straight . I couldn't watch her hold it in any longer.

My little girl is 3.5 been dry for almost 6-7 months now what I found is she hated the potty in site so she liked to hide to do her stuff so what we done is made a little walkway behind the sofa and put her potty behind there, she very rarely uses the toilet but will go to one if we are out and about tho, maybe a thought of putting her potty some where where she isn't in view maybe? Just a suggestion xx

Thats a great idea , my little one isn’t scared of the toilet per say but its worth the try ! We have a little potty in my bathroom but we rarely use it because its upstairs and we do most of our potty training in our living room where its hard wood floors and easier to clean . I don’t know why my mom brain didn’t think of that sooner haha :haha:

I think you’ve got it right, just gotta just go cold turkey and remain calm during accidents like you are. Just takes some time. Have you tried a reward chart to reduce the accidents? I don’t know if they’re still recommended by “experts” but my kids responded well to them during potty training :)

I haven’t posted any updates on my little one ,yesterday I got an email from the teacher that she had gone Pee in the big girl Potty all by her self , We had a little celebration after day care , we went out for ice cream and Hshe looked so proud of herself . For the most part the past week or so shes worn big girl underwear during the day with no accidents , she does sleep with training pants during the night and thats when she tends to go poop . But im not gonna push it because keeping her dry so far has been a win ! :happydance:
