Pre-labour - what is it?

What's "pre-labour"? Because one of my friends said she thinks she's in pre-labour and I have no idea what she's talking about! Does she just mean braxton hicks? Ta!
 
Its the pressure feelings and backache you get before the contractions kick in.
 
Does it mean she'll be going into labour really soon?? She mentioned it via email and I'm like "whaaat" she's 36 weeks.
 
No it doesn't. You can feel this for weeks - I have. The midwife said yesterday that I have all the classic signs of labour - then said it could happen today, or it could happen in 2 weeks.

Oh gawd how frustrating!! Guess I haven't got to this part in my pregnancy book yet!
 
Ditto to what Kat said... it can last weeks, your body does alot of things in prep for labor...
