This is probably a stupid question, but....:shrug:

Is it important to give a hpt the full 2-3 minutes before disregarding it as negative?
Even if the test line shows up bright and strong straight away and the rest of the strip is pure white, could something still show up after two minutes?

If the instructions say to read the test after 3 minutes then you should probably wait just to be safe. I tend to think if you are going to get a line it will show up straight away, but I still follow the instructions just in case. But I've never seen a second line myself, so I could be wrong...

most test instructions that I've read say 2-3 mins but up to 10 mins, and don't read result after 10 mins. I always wait just to be sure and then throw it away. Good luck :flower:

Hey I would say it def is important. If its very early on with not much hcg in ur system it can take that extra bit longer to show up faint. It did with me last week and now mine shows up after a few seconds with a darker line.

I have had lines show up right at the end, so I say definitely wait :flower:

Thanks for the replies :flower:

Feeling a little silly for binning an IC after about thirty seconds  but I'm sure it was neg anyway:shrug:

I got a faaaaiiiint BFP my first test when I was pregnant with my son, and it didn't appear until the 3rd minute. I wasn't even sure it was a positive because it took so long and it was soooo light. But, a few days later that pink line popped up really quick and really dark! If no AF, keep testing girl!
