progesterone for short LP

What dose of progesterone has worked for you? How many times a day? Do you take it orally or insert vaginally? I started out with 100 mg progesterone vaginally at night and that didn't work at all. So, doctor increased to 100 mg vaginally twice a day and that worked one month. For convenience I started taking the same dose orally the next month, and started spotting, so I immediately switched to vaginally which stopped the spotting but then I started spotting again a few days later. Wondering what has worked to others out there who take progesterone for short LP/early spotting.
