Can someone run through how I can go about storing pumped milk.

I have discovered today that I can pump! (With my first, I was lucky to get 1oz)

Today I pumped for ten minutes and got 3oz!.

I am returningtonwork next week, and was planning pumping and dumping as I didn't think I would get that much.....

So do I get a freezer bag with blocks in for four hours or what!

Please help me!
THANKYOU. Xxx

Yay for you!

I only store in 1oz sizes and take out what he needs. I guess it depends on your LO. I also use these pop out storage containers that hold 1oz and then I pop them into freezer bags. So when I need it I can take out as many as he needs.

my DD is only feed expressed breast milk so I store mine in 6oz bags (the max they hold). She only has 5oz at a time but the other oz can be used for the next feed as they are good for up to 24hr after defrosting

I froze in 4 ounce bags. My LO now takes 5 ounces. I normally only need to take from my stash ocassionally so she just has one bottle that's a little short. Now that I am back at work I'm pumping what I need for the next day so it's rare for me to freeze at this point. I so wish I had done it in a variety of ounces.

Thanks ladies.

How long can I keep it out before freezing it?

I have always been told its 2 hours out of the fridge, 3 days in the fridge and 3 months in the freezer or 6 months if its a chest freezer. But everyone on here seems to have different variations of that on her. But I do know the sooner you freeze it the better

Dr. Sears website has a lot of info on storage times.
