So I have this disposable nappy bin that was given to me by the council and is collected the same as my other bins are. What I don't understand is where would they go? I thought they couldn't be recycled or anything and went into the landfill anyway, if thats the case then what the point of the seperate bin. Does anyone know? It's really baffled me!

Sorry this is soo random and kind of O/T

Maybe they incinerate them? I'm not sure, our local council don't provide separate bins. I know they take years and years and years to be broken down in landfill so maybe they burn them?

I was thinking that too! but surely that is worse for the atmosphere than landfill!? I don't know, I am feeling a bit green today lol. Would have loved to have used cloth but when I tried LO hated them and they gave her a big old rash! x

Apparently there's a pilot scheme due to start in west brom of turning nappies into roof tiles, or something. I doubt it's where your nappies are going, but they are looking into what to do with disposable nappies!

Thats what I was thinking maybe they will turn the nappies into something. Imagine your roof made from poopy nappies cooool.

I heard about this on the news! Apparently the company is based out of Canada, but is starting this in UK. They are recycling for roof tiles, playground equip, etc. They have started this at nursing homes, daycare, & hospitals for a while.

I'd rather someone found a use for them, rather than them just being buried and left for 300+ years to rot!

And I imagine they clean them first :haha:

Yeah I am sure they do clean them and change their appearance too, i couldn't amagine walking down the road and seeing a load of nappies sitting on the roof haha! x

 image of a roof just covered of taped together nappies!

I would want a pampers active roof with sesame street all over it.

What kind of cloth nappies did you try? I just changed from sposies to pocket nappies recently and love them!

It's amazing that they can recycle a nappy for roof tiles, great that there is potential use for them once they've been binned
