Q about housing application UK

Okay so we applied to be on the housing list in our borough (sutton). We applied on the 15/07/2011 So about 10 weeks ago. Does anyone know when and how they will get back to me, or do I need to chase them up?

I think it differs from area to area as I know ours is running behind but I alway ring them after a week to chase it up no harm in phoning

Mine got back to me within 2 weeks... They sent me a letter to tell me that I'm not priority and on lowest band to get a house

With me back in 2010 I applied beginning of December and had a letter at the end of that month about points and coming out to see me for an interview thing, I would phone them and find out what is going on just for your own piece of mind

Ours was pretty quick. People we had put down as references had letters within a few days and application was approved and we where notified within a fortnight of the referees sending back thier information.

Thanks everyone!! I think I'll give them two weeks because they do write in the small print it takes 8-12 weeks just to process the application here. It takes ages because I am in a high need area I suppose.. In the next two weeks I will chase them up!! Me and OH are desperate to move out and with 3 adults and a baby in a tiny 2 bed flat on the 7th floor were really over crowded! x

its a 7 year wait here for people with an income/savings (lowest band basically)
can still bid but its pointless! as people are added every week in a higher band and you have 0 chance of getting something... its sooo annoying.. to see i mean i'm not actually on the list, i would go on it, but its sooo hard to get anything here there is no point

Hi ella in Epsom its usually quite a wait (I am not on it but family are). They should send a letter telling you if been accepted and if so, they may come out and do measurements of all rooms etc to see how high needs you are. Wait a couple more weeks the chase them up. x

We get told straight away, however you have to go in for a meeting/interview to get on the list in our city. I would ring them hun

Give them a call by the end of week 12 as you said it takes 8-12 weeks to process. With me being in a very popular part of London the wait is yonkers!
