Q: Is a baby BUMP just 'baby' or momma organs pushed up too?!?

I feel silly as I don't know what constitutes a BUMP?

I thought it was your actual uterus and baby that makes you pudge out, but everyone keeps saying I got a bump now and I laugh and remind them it's just fat because my uterus is still below my belly button! My ribs are killing me so I am thinking my organs and such are just starting to move up, but just thought since I had 10 extra lbs on me before I got pregnant that my bump was just fat!

Please straighten me out as I have a "bump" but haven't been calling it that since doc said uterus is still down low. I would be overjoyed if what I am sporting is actually my baby bump! Anyone know!??!

I was wondering this too, I'm 21 weeks now and I feel rock hard under my boobs, I feel like it's all been pushed up?!? I can feel my uterus just above my belly button but it's under my boobs that looks like the "bump"

Me too I'm only 18 weeks so my uterus is way below my belly button but my bump starts just under boobs! xxx

I think it depends on the woman and how she's built. For me my "bump" is really only the baby, and it ends right where my uterus does. I can feel that my other organs have been crammed into the upper part of my abdomen because it's a lot firmer up there than it used to be, but it's still flat until just above my belly button.

I've wondered that too... I still don't feel like I have a proper bump, but my entire torso does curve out starting from right under my boobs and it's very firm. All I can figure is that various organs must be shoved up there. It's definitely not fat, because I can see my ribs and muscles, so it's mystifying what exactly it could be all the way up there!!

Well if you think your stomach has been pushed right up- when you feel full now it hurts your ribs. Everything moves up as your uterus gets bigger Thats why its so uncomfortable when you get further into pregnancy

My "uterus bump" didn't really stick out cuz by the time it was high enough to show all of my organs had moved up so I got the "all around" bump at once. I have a short torso and started with a retroverted uterus and I think that has a lot to do with it.

I think I'm carrying high, and it seems to be all baby + my own pudge. I can feel kicks to a point about 2 inches below the middle of my ribs, which is also where my bump sticks out, so the uterus must be fairly well up there.

Yeah I notice that the part just under my bbs is harder at night after dinner because I'm full (even though I can't fit that much in now!). I know eventually baby can get right up there.

I have a bit of a B bump still and i was calling the top "food baby" and the bottom "real baby" and a friend (who likes to say needless things) goes "Oh sorry to burst your bubble, but that's your baby at the top, it will come down before it's born". Now she's had 2 kids of her own, surely she'd know that your uterus doesn't start straight under your boobs but grows up as baby gets bigger??

I had a small tummy prior to getting pregnant and it feels like it is pushed up. Per doppler, baby hangs out usually an inch from my belly button towards my right usually. S/he certainly isn't high enough to pudge out my tummy like it is. I also noticed right below my breasts is a little hump that goes out and goes down sort of like a ) starting from that area down to my abdomen.

That is such a cool link! I had previously come across a rather... graphic... photo of a gravid abdomen and it was interesting to see where everything went to accommodate the uterus, but I definitely prefer the site you posted.

So it looks as if it really could be a bit of both depending on your body type. Hurray - I can say I'm sporting a bump now! Yay for all our bumps!!!!!
