Question about anti D injection ,any advise possiblexxx

hi there lovely ladies

im a bit confused really i have o neg blood group and with your first born baby i know you dont need the injection enless you have bleeds etc during pregnancy ,anyway sadley my first bor was stillborn in 2007 ,few days after birth i was given the anti d injection to protect further pregnancys as blood cells can pass through to baby

well when i was pregnant with my second baby i was told that i would routinely be given the anti d injection at 28 weeks enless i had bleeds of course,well second pregnany wasnt great from 6 week i kept having constant bleeds well i passed 12 weeks and i was given the anti d injections everytime i had the bleeds all the way to my deliver i must have had over 30 of them .....

well im currentley 29 weeks pregnant and i had midwife home visit yesterday and i asked her about the anti d injection and that i know ive got to have it even tho pregnancy is going great ,she said to me i dont think they give them routenly so im not sure now weather i will get it or not

i have my consultant appointment on monday next week so i will be asking them then if i can have one ,i know its got to be given to anyone at 28 weeks and got o neg blood group

im so worried just in case they tell me they dont give them im scared for my babys health as i know the injection is to protect the blood cells getting to baby and being attacked like a foreign object

has anyone else had this problem at all ?.....

I think this may depend on where you are located, I had one at 28 weeks and another after Hannah was born as she's a positive blood type

on my first baby i was located where i am now and was given the anti d injection after the birth

well my second baby i was in diffrent location about an hour away as i moved to be with my bf and they also gave me the injection

well im back in the same location where i had my first baby and im confused why my midwife would tell me they dont give them routenly

its very confusing cos it feels like im not entitled to it and scares me because i know the risks ......

I *think* the guidelines regarding the anti-d may have changed in the UK or parts of it, not 100% on that though....hopefully one of the girls in the UK can give you better advice

mmmmmmmm see hun now makes me wonder why i havent been booked for it like with my other babys ,scaring me big time because i know the problems it may cause if i dont get it .....

i will deffo be asking now on monday and making sure i get it i want my lil one safe in there .......

I'm the same as this, except I don't mind injections I had one at 28 weeks, I'll get another at 34 weeks.

I had a MMC and ERPC in 2008 and had it after the ERPC too.

I had mine at 28 weeks (I'm B-), but I don't get the 34 week one. That seems to depend on where you are from what I can tell on here (which IMO is bonkers, either it is either best practice across the whole of the UK or it isn't!)

I don't get one after birth until the cord blood has been tested. If the baby is RH neg like me then I'm done, but if the baby is RH pos I get another dose then.

I'd definately tell them that you want the injection if that is what you feel. This is your pregnancy and you should be in control, especially when what you are asking for is not unusual!

Hia I had mine at 28 weeks as I'm A negative blood group, my hubby is O positive so chances of Junior being positive are very high. I have another one booked for 34 weeks then after the birth they test the blood from the baby and I may have to have another.

There may be a reason why you don't need it but I would definately ask about it !! x x

This is my first pregnancy and I am A-. I had the anti d injection at 28 weeks. The mw gave me what she called a "double dose" of anti d at that stage and said I wouldn't need more until LO was born. The mw said the double dose thing was new and that previously it would have been 3 injections, 2 during pregnancy and one after the baby was born.

Im AB- and this is my first and i have been told i will be getting an Anti-D at 28 and 34 weeks and then again after the birth if the baby is tested and comes back as having a positive blood type.

I am having my jab slightly later than 28weeks cause they couldn't get me in! I am having it tomorrow morning they said I will then need one at 34 weeks then when they have tested baby I will have one after labour, This is my first and I have had no bleeding throughout x

im just basically confused as i know i had the injection after my first i had loads during my second pregnancy and afterthe birth ,but this baby they havent mentioned anything about it and i know its got to be given to me

i will ask now on monday at my consultant and will let ou ladies now how i got on with weather im gonna be given it or not xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
