I suffered a missed miscarriage 2 weeks ago. I was 8 weeks and baby's heart stopped about 7 weeks.
My OB gave me misoprostol which caused me to lose the baby that same day 12/30.
On Fri 1/2 I had a follow up ultrasound which showed everything had passed but a bit of placenta that was stuck in my cervix. That was manually removed and I was also given another dose of misoprostol to expel any leftovers.
My bleeding finally stopped yesterday. I took a hpt and it's still positive.
I'm just wondering how long on average til it should read negative.
I really want to TTC ASAP as I'm 38 and time is not my friend.
I'd love any help.
I'm totally lost. Thank you.

I can't say for a natural mc, but with my last mc I lost the baby at 13 weeks (but it was only 7.5). I had a d&c and went for blood work every week to monitor my hcg. It took 6 weeks for my to get my period again, and I believe my hcg was around 5. I remember telling my Dr it was still around 5, but I'd gotten my period. So she basically said whatever comes first... 0 hcg, or period.

Best of luck!

I started bleeding brown spotting 30th December, lost baby Tuesday that passed my test is dramatically lighter but still there at min will let you know when it disappears I think with my loss in 2010 at 5+6 I stopped bleeding after 7-10 days and ovulated 17 days after first bleed

i miscarried (naturally) on dec 8th and had my levels checked a bunch of times after that...

it was down to 16 about two and a half weeks later (on dec 26th) and AF showed up on jan 2nd, which was only about three and a half weeks since the bleeding started - shortest period EVER!

i got my levels checked one last time on jan 9th and it was "less than 5" (they didn't give me an actual number).

not sure if that helps... but i think sunshine is right, if you get your period, it's not really relevant what your HcG is, i wouldn't think. if you don't get your period for a long time, then they would want to know what your levels were and if there was tissue left that was making your body still think it was pregnant.:nope:

sending positive thoughts your way:hugs:

It'll be 3 weeks on the 20th and my hpt was completely negative this morning. Not even a squinter. Here's hoping my cycle gets back on track soon.
Thanks for the replies! 😊

Sorry for your loss, and good luck! :)
