Well I am booked in for an induction on Monday when I will be 39 weeks. Have been basically bedridden for the last 5 weeks because of a disc problem with my back so am due to get the first gel at 4pm Monday and a second one at 11pm. I know everyone is different and some labour a long time especially at 39 weeks as they may not be ready but am anxious for reassurance baby will be here by lunch wednesday as my oh's daughter is getting:shrug: married and I really don't want him missing it but would prefer him to be there for the birth! What are the chances????

i was induced at 12pm on monday night and my son was born at 11:01 the following morning!xx

With my daughter I was induced at 39 weeks and only required the one lot of gel. They had told me I may need the second but in the end I didnt. My labour was 8 hours start to finish.

I went in for induction at 4pm and had her by 12 the next day (dinner time) didn't get into labour until 8:30 tho so 4 hour labour x

I was induced at 38 weeks due to pre-eclampsia - there's a link to my birth story in my sig if you're really interested, but basically I only needed one lot of the pessary and they were ready to break my waters a few hours later - I had mild contractions in the meantime but nothing much - if I hadn't already been there it wouldn't have been enough to go into hospital and wasn't active labour. They actually delayed breaking my waters then purely because labour ward was so overworked they needed to kick us out of our room for a few hours to let people in who were about to deliver, but when we got back and they broke my waters the actual active labour was less than 2 hours! I was only in strong labour for just over an hour and the second stage was only 5 minutes... I did have pre-eclampsia which I gather can make labour hard and fast, but being induced early didn't seem to make it any more difficult for labour to kick in for me. Best of luck x
