You might think I'm stupid asking this question but never mind.

I'm trying to teach my LO to sit unaided. When she does so she leans forward and places both hands on the floor to steady herself. She can stay like that for a few mins. Is this normal to be in this position? It just looks very uncomfy!

Thank you!

My lo did that for a couple of weeks too. Its totally normal whilst they are just finding their balance.
If she continued to use her arms to steady herself then I would mention it to your Dr but while they are just figuring things out then its normal.

Yes as far as I know, my LO did that for a few weeks or so before sitting up straight. It sounds like she's doing fine. Sit with her in your lap for some support or put her in a boppy or something similar if you have one. She'll learn though without you teaching her.

Yep, that's how they do it in the beginning. And I agree, it looks horribly uncomfortable! But as they get stronger they sit straighter.

Thank you all! She sits fine in a high chair etc. she's got plenty of time to learn :)

Our pediatrician called that "tripod sitting". Totally normal. :)
