I'm currently in the process of becoming a childminder. I just wanted to check with any that might know... am i correct in thinking that as I'll be self employed i'll still recieve my SMP from my previous job?
I am a childminder, I was on SMP but as soon as you start to receive an income you shouldn't receive smp as you wouldn't if you went to another job or back to your previous one - it may take you a while to get started and get mindees so i would just leave it until you get your first one started then inform your previous employer of the date and register as self employed.
