Question for ladies who pre-make using Dr Brown's bottles.....

I do exactly what you do hun. I find when it comes to warm (I microwave for 1min) I can shake to mix then assemble the parts from the steriliser. Saves handling the vent three times by assembling to store, removing to warm then to reassemble!x

I went to Mothercare today to buy the storage lids & they didnt have them...:dohh:

Just ordering them online now

Hadnt thought about how to keep other parts sterile whilst storage cap is on! Although I think I will just use a storage cap to shake them, then put other parts on to store in fridge

to prevent the heated liquid escaping when heated loosen the top, when it's cool enough to feed your baby tighten it again

I use the Dr. Browns pitcher. It holds 32 oz of formula. I always pre-make a days worth of formula. It works great, but you have to warm the bottles because the formula gets really cold in the refrigerator.

I have never heard of a pitcher... *off to investigate further*

i store mine fully assembled with tops on in the fridge. if u shake them but keep a clean finger on the top of the teat it wont spray everywhere. mine also leak but only a few , this part might not make sense so i apologise in advance, im majorly sleep deprived, if u line up the holes of the creamy/yellow part in between the writing of the bottle it seems to stop them leaking. i will take a pic when i wash my bottles soon :haha:

and another tip, i couldnt get milk residue out of the insert no matter what i did, found the brushes useless. threw bottles and all parts into the dishwasher, lowish heat, with not very dirty/greasey dishes, and they came out like new

We have 2 of the storage caps too, and i find them a godsend, just a shame you can only get them online :( We pre-make our bottles aswell, but i steralise everything, add hot water/forumla then sit the bottles with just the tube and other bit inside, in a pan of cold water just to cool them and then i add the teats/lid when putting them into the fridge. I also didn't read the instructions when we first got them and didn't realise you couldn't shake them or if you make them too hot they also leak, but we bought the storage caps and we use them when making bottles to shake them and we then have no leaks :D

I make and store fully assembled then loosen the screw top while heating and then tighten to swirl and feed. I never get any leaks. They are designed to 'leak' as that's how they work!! If that makes sense. The air goes in the leak bit when baby feeding and stops it becoming a vacuum.

The storage caps are so great, they should really be sold with the bottles & teats in the stores

Where does everyone buy theres? I need to buy some more

I had a look around online and found Amazon to be the cheapest £2 for a pack of 2 lids but it was £3 P&P :( So £5. I wish they sold them in the shops. I think mine came from Australia and it was going to take a good few days but they actually came the next day.

I love the caps. It's made life so much easier. You can shake the bottles without any spillage. I also use breast milk storage bags to transport the bits of the bottle when I'm out so that they stay sterile.

Bought mine from 'breastpumps.co.uk' & they do seem to be good value

£1.99 for 2 lids (for the wide neck bottles) & £2.50 postage....But the good thing is you can buy various other Dr Browns stuff, teats, bottle brushes etc....

I spent a fortune on these bottles and they're a right pain in the arse. When the milk is heated it creates pressure so thats why you have to remove all the componants.

I found it wrong that the lid has holes in the top - whats the point of sterilising if germs can get in through the holes and onto the teat? My daughter has quite warm milk and they leak everywhere when warmed even when you've warmed without the resevoir in etc.

All the handling of the componants doesnt seem very sterile to me!

Ava hated the teats theyre too floppy.

think thats about it.....lol

Would never reccomend doctor browns but i know some people swear by them. My babies gagged on the teat, they always leaked, you cant shake them or heat them up. Cleaning all the parts was a pain. I lasted 4 days then binned them! Oh and they didnt work for colic either!!x
