Hi!
I read alot of conflicting information about yoga and pregnancy AND I get conflicting info from my yoga teachers, so I am wondering if anyone can help me with this.

I know some poses are not recommended during pregnancy. I know that in most cases they are not recommended because of increased risk of injury to ME (i.e. injury due to increased amount of relaxin in my body) but what I would like to know is, are there any poses that are dangerous for the baby?

If it is just injury to the mother that is a concern, then I think common sense and listening to my body will be enough to protect me. But if there is something risky to the baby, then I would like to avoid it entirely. My yin yoga teacher says anything is ok, except lying on the stomach, and my pregnancy yoga teacher says ANYTHING at all is ok, until I feel my belly is in the way. I am not sure what to think! And I don't think either of my teachers has ever been pregnant...

Thanks for any advice that any of you might have!

I am curious about the answers to your questions. So far, I just listen to my body when I do yoga and when in doubt, I don't do the poses everyone else is doing. Prenatal yoga DVDs that have three women in all different trimesters have been a great option for me. Good luck :)

I was thinking of getting a yoga pregnancy dvd . Something like https://www.amazon.co.uk/Yoga-Me-My-Baby-DVD/dp/B001LM6X2U/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1326833612&sr=8-2 I feel i should be doing something more than just walking.

This is what I have been doing to. However, I started really thinking about it tonight after my yin yoga class. One of the poses felt great the whole time, but afterwords I felt discomfort--like Braxton Hicks but only on one side of my uterus. It went away after about 5 minutes, but I ended up spending the rest of the class in the shivasana pose, because I was nervous. The idea that something might be bad and I wouldn't feel it till AFTER the pose got me a little worried.... I hope it isn't something I should be avoiding because I LOVE my yin yoga class. It has been a cure for the winter blues ;)

Thanks for that link. I need to get a dvd too. I love my class but it is too expensive to go as often as I would like. And I agree about doing more than walking. Especially in the winter....

Try searching for Shiva Rea's prenatal yoga DVD :) I've done it every pregnancy and it's nice . My only complaint is that it feels slow and easy compared to the yoga in used to practicing when I'm not pregnant. This DVD has a postnatal program as well :) and the prenatal program includes kegel exercises.
