Can anyone give me any job/career websites to search? My husband has mentioned moving to Ireland or the UK and was kind of interested in what kind of job opportunites are out there. He said it probbly wouldnt be for a couple years as he wants to stay here in Halifax, NS for a while but is just kind of curious. He has a 4 year dalhousie degree majoring in sociology, so has a BA but so far hasnt found anything career wise down here. If anyone can help me out that would be great!!

are you moving to the north or south of ireland as North is owned by UK and totally different if you are looking for jobs. Also depeneds on what area, local job has a site in NI that covers all of NI.

We are keeping our options open so really sites from anywhere in Ireland are a plus. We arent really sure as we are just trying to see what job opportunities are out there. Its not for sure that we are going to move yet just more curious then anything since Shawn had mentioned it.

okay so obviously i know nothing about anything out there, but i cant believe you might be leaving ns to go so far! i suppose if you said alberta that would not surprise me, but ireland? wow! anyway sorry for intruding! xoxo

lol now its just a thought its not a for sure thing haha
Im still not sure if I could move that far from my family haha

Take me with youuuuu! haha

Ireland would be great. Maybe you guys could go on one of those working holidays though to see if you like it enough. My friend is doing that this summer from NZ.

See need to know, ireland and england are not run the same. One has euro money for a start and different health systems. Northern Ireland is same as England as they are ruled by them so we use sterling here. I wouldnt move down south or Ireland myself as I couldnt afford to live there as they are very very different than uk rule. Everything is more exsensive for a start. Jobs are about the same to get, I am on a border town.

I am actually a photograher bere if you want to see some pics, it is nice here but for jobs i am doubtful as it took my mate two years of a job hunt to get a job in a chippy.

Hi hun if you go onto a search engine such as google and type in jobcentre plus, the website should come up in the search. Its great you can search for differents types of jobs in different locations in the UK...Goodluck hun xx

Depends on what sort of jobs you want. If you're thinking for your OH to use his sociology degree then there are probably specialist websites but you wouldn't go far wrong looking at the online job sites for the big broadsheet newspapers, particulary the Guardian, also the Times. There is jobsgopublic.co.uk (I think that's the address) where you get all the public sector jobs in the UK, so that's all those jobs through local government. We have fish4jobs and monster but they to be full of shit to be frank and it's very hard to find any real jobs in amongst them. New Scientist might advertise sociology jobs maybe?

Hey, i'm doing a sociology degree at the minute so i can link you to a website that gives a list of ideal type jobs for that degree field :)

www.prospects.ac.uk

It's obviously aimed at students and you have to fill in a little questionnaire thing but it is quite useful i find. The types of jobs over here that go with that type of degree are things such as central government, local government, market research etc
