Hi everyone

Hope this is the right place to post! Figured some of you lovely ladies may have experience of blood clotting disorders relating to pregnancy so might be able to advise me.

Brief history 1st! Having had one miscarriage at 9 weeks, I have since went on to have a healthy baby girl. My pregnancy was stressful though, as I started bleeding again at exactly the same point as my 1st pregnancy (bright red blood+ heavy clotting), but after 2 months it eventually stopped. We thought we'd got past the worst, but at my 30 week scan they said she was smaller than normal, with discrepancies between head and abdomen measurements. Despite weekly scans and repeatedly threatening to induce her early, she was born naturally at 37 weeks, small (5lbs), but healthy.:happydance:

My husband and I would like to start TTC number 2, but are worried about how another pregnancy would go. I have read about How blood clotting disorders can cause both miscarriages and low birth weights in babies, so my question is:

Would the hospital have screened for this during my last pregnancy, or is it something I should request?

Any other suggestions also appreciated!

Thanks in advance!:flower:

Hi, Im no expert and could be wrong but if you had a clotting disorder I dont think you would have even made it to that many weeks with your daughter.
Most of the info that Ive read is about recurrent miscarriages due to clotting disorders. Im not so sure you do have a clotting problem. Your previous miscarriage may have been unrelated.
My story is a miscarriage at 5 weeks without any blood thinners.
2nd time I was on low dose aspirin daily and this allowed me to get to 8.5 weeks with a heartbeat which then stopped. So the aspirin obviously did help but not enough. I got tests done which came back positive for blood clotting so this time hoping to be 3rd time lucky on low dose aspirin and clexane injections.

I dont think you would have routinely had you blood tested for clotting x

Meant to ask aswell, do you have a uterus anomaly? such as bicornuate ?
I have didelphys which is two seperate wombs so my last pregnany I started bleeding at 8 weeks heavier than a period with clots and still the baby was fine, thats when tehy realised I have two wombs. One was pregnant but the other was confused and trying to carry on as normal.
A lot of people with uterine anomalies bleed throughout pregnancy as you have described and still are fine because it comes from the other side.
Even people with a bicornuate/heart shaped womb have this commonly.
Ive had brown spotting on and off for 2 weeks which is stressful but had an early scan showing the heartbeat and there is a patch in my other womb which looks to be a haematoma.
