i was wondering ladies?

How long do you think time wise breastfeed take from your day ?
let's said if you were breastfeed 5 or 6 time a day and a session take 30 to 45 minutes each ..is it mean that most part of your day your breastfeed?

so sorry if it's a stupid question ...just try to figure out my option !!!:happydance:

Every baby is different but mine cluster feeds so I feed for about 4hrs in the morn, 2hrs at lunch, 4hrs in the evening and on and off through the night. So most of my day lol

Massive congrats btw on your pregnancy xxx

interesting...this is one of my biggest concern...(and i know this time it mean for bonding etc...) but as i will have to go back to my shop as soon as my body permit it ...i am just wondering if i want to spend most of my day breastfeeding...

thanks logiebear:)

in the early days i'd say each feed can take 30-45 mins and baby feeds every 2/3 hours (every baby is different but as their tummies are so small they should be feeding about 8 times a day) However as time goes on and baby gets more efficient at feeding it can take as little as 10 minutes. Also depends if baby is having a snack or a main meal or wants comfort food! I'm 3 months in and i'd say all in i spend about 2-4 hours a day nursing my little girl (inc night feeds) depending on her mood (if she's moochy she takes her time as she enjoys the cuddles) and if she's having a growth spurt.

The first probably month, he would nurse anywhere from 10-20min per side...so say 40min max at a time, every 3hrs soo...I would say I spent 3-4hrs a day was just on that..and I have 2 older kids. It can be tough but it's worth it. As he got older he cut back to maybe 5-10min total and every 3-5hrs so it was much easier. you can also get a sling so you can get stuff done and still nurse

every baby and mother is different. For us personally, in the first month or so we would feed every 4 hours for 30-45 minutes at a time realistaclly. In the evening it would be every 2-3 hours but she would sleep through the night if she did that. As she got stronger and older and we both got learnt what to do etc it got quicker about 20 minutes a feed every 4-6 hours.

My girl started out eating 10-20 minutes every 1-3 hours. After about 3 weeks she started eating for only 5-10 minutes every 2-4 hours.

For us right now he feeds for 15 mins every 2-3 hours during the day and 3-4 during the night.
I think Alex is early on the 15 mins feeding as most would take longer as you see from other replies.

It can vary so much as the others have said - in the first 2 weeks Hebe would feed for an hour some times and 15 mins another. A pattern doesnt alway appear early on but then for some, like AG, it can fall into a good pattern for the most part, quite early on :)

To start with it is tough and I'l be honest I did feel like that's all I did all day every day but now 4months down the line she feeds 4-5 times a day about 15mins each, the evening one can be a bit longer but I still think its less faff than preparing and sterilising bottles!

Congratulations Miel!! I am losing touch with everyone these days, I didn't know you got your bfp!

My feeding routine isn't too bad... it can be 5-10 mins every 3ish hours during the day, he has a small feed before bed at 7.30pm, then a big 20 minute dreamfeed at 10.30pm, then he wakes at 3am for a 5 minute feed, then 6.30am for a 5/10 minute feed, comes into bed with us and then wakes up properly at 8.30am... then the daytime routine starts again. It might sound like alot, but it really doesn't feel like it.

Sometimes I have worried that he isn't getting enough, but his weight gain has been brilliant so far so I think it is just different for each baby. xxx

think my little girl is taking the piss after reading how quickly other babies feed-oh well, she enjoys the cuddles even more than me obviously!!
