I think Lewis has been engaged for about 2 days now as thats when I found I could breath more easier and he had his bum lower. mw said hes 3/5ths.

Today he has been so quiet though and was wondering if its down to him engaging thus making his movements change.

He has had a wiggle but hes nowhere near as active as he has been I think in total I've felt him 3 times since waking at 7.30 and 2 of those times were from me poking his foot.

I've also been told babies can go quiet just before labour is there any truth in this?

If I haven't had much movement by the time I pick my eldest up from school I'm going to head down to the day unit. I would phone and go down now but df is at work and have no one able to pick her up for me :(

Come on Lewy bum give your mumma some wriggles please! x

I've heard conflicting stories about movements! My LO has been fully engaged for a week and her movements have definately changed, she moves around a bit less than she did before aswell. My midwife said that the baby should continue moving regularly right until you pop, so aslong as your feeling 10+ movements a day then I wouldn't worry xx

i was told by my midwife that their movements don't slow down or stop as the pregnancy progresses... nd it should be 20+ movements a day.
maybe he's jus sleepin atm? i'd lie flat nd give him a poke see if he wiggles... if not then maybe go the hospital jus to be sure?
hope everythings fine xxxx

hi just popping over from baby club, my babys movements slowed down dramatically once he was engaged, i ended up in hospital twice because of it. If you are worried, please get it checked xxx

My baby has slowed RIGHT down with move ments my get one or 2 sticky out bits a day and i have to POKE him to feel him move back.
Went to day unit on wednesday for a monitor.
Had MW yesterday and she said that she thinks labour is brewing.

I had this with my 1st ... on the sat night (or sunday) I went to day unit for a ctg coz he was not movin much AT ALL and only times he did really move is when i poked him.
They said they wanted to induce me.. I was stayin in hospital waitin for space for me to be induced and tuesday night i had contractions.

Im getting same now hope it means baby comin ASAP!

I've heard conflicting information as well. It's so incredibly frustrating. My doctor told me it's not uncommon for movements to slow down as the baby becomes engaged, but the 10-12 movements in two hours thing still applies....if you feel like the baby isn't moving much, lay down on your side and count the movements. If you don't get 10-12 within 2 hours, call your doctor/midwife.

Thank ladies I did some tidying and he had a bit of a wriggle but think will ring up the day unit anyways once I've picked up my eldest and see what they say. Been losing some more of my plug over the past few days too. x

As soon as I posted my last message hes giving me some kicks. So hopefully he will become more active and I won''t have to go in. x

My baby seems to be moving more then ever and my ribs are killing me... and I'm 6 days over! So if baby slowing down is a sign its coming, mine is nowhere near ;-(

x

You might find his movements change slightly but he souldn't stop. I think what is meant by babys movements 'slowing down' is exactly that, they feel slower but should still be as often. Best advice is if your worried call the MW or hospital

my baby is 2/5 engaged and baby is moving more then ever, the movements are actually sore they are so strong and maybe hitting a nerve down there.... everyone is different though, go with your gut instinct, no harm to get checked over if your feeling unsure...xx

Ok just an update. Picked my eldest up from school came home sat down and he had a crazy half an houe in there including headbutting my cervix rather painfully might I add. So no longer worried.

For the past 45 mins hes going crazy in there again limbs everywhere so much so that df was hav ing a giggle follwing them with his hands and making poor Lewis get very fed up.

Only worry now is I think he may be back to back rather then anterior as a) I can't feel his bony bum at the top of my bump anymore (though I am sat up so maybe why) and b) hi limbs have been here there and everywhere including pushing my belly button right out surely if he was back to back his hands/feet etc wouldn't be able to do that unless it was an elbow? x

Thanks hun it was lovely its the first time df has sat and actually put his hand on my bump hes been too scared to get attached so was lovely that hes finally bonding iykwim.

No longer worried about him being back to back either as I have a bum right in the middle of my tummy lol.
