Ok so this is a random question which im curious about..

Not everyone gets their heath care free, Which i am lucky been in the UK an have it covered for my pregnancy..
Where do you live and how much does it cost you for everything from day 1 of pregnancy til after the birth, check ups, scans etc.

Im curious for woman who have to pay to have a baby. (all the care and check-ups. Obviously babies cost everyone money :haha:)

(PS- i did a poll in Great British Pounds. heres a converter https://coinmill.com/GBP_USD.html)

Thank you!! :) :hugs:

It costs between 1k and 5k in amerca. depending on how much contact with medical people they have. alot of poor people. go the whole pregnancy and home birth with no Drs or midwifes ect just family.

i dont have to pay as its on the NHS... and both hospitals i have been looked after are NHS

I think my out of pocket cost for my OB care and delivery will be around $2350 with my health insurance, which I pay for (My part of the premium is $93.46/month. My employer pays about 3 times that amount for me each month.). According to your currency converter, that's about 1463 British pounds.

From what I understand, the actual cost of a birth + OB care without health insurance in the US runs around $10,000-$20,000 depending on where you are in the country (6227-12454 British pounds). And that's not including the baby's pediatrician bill after birth. :haha:

wow that is alot. People who get everything covered by NHS dont realise how lucky we are!

My part of the delivery not covered by my insurance was about $1500 us. & then Megan's bill was above & beyond that for room & board & nurses, etc. they counted that all seperate so it was on HER deductable and not mine :dohh: Her portion was over $1000 just in the 2 days til we left the hospital. All of my prenatal care was covered by my insurance - including multiple scans, monotoring, etc & 2'x a week visits to my ob. because I had high bp. My dh pays out of his paycheck $302.00 every 2 weeks for family health coverage (so $604 a month). We each have a $2000 deductable before they cover things like dr visits, hospital, surgery ect. THe only thing covered before deductable is child wellness visits & shots & prenatal.

Wow, we are Soo lucky to have the nhs! We might complain that you have to wait and there poorly funded and sometimes dirty but it doesn't cost £20,000 to have a baby!
Might get less 13year olds having babys tho...

I am being cared for by midwives and hospital OBs so Almost everything here is covered by medicare and free. The NT scan does leave me out of pocket about $100. If you see private Ob's it can be quite expensive but i don't have the money or private health insurance plus our public health care system is pretty good and i was really happy with the care i have received in public hospitals. I also dont need to use a pediatrician i just see my regular gp which medicare also covers so its free. I feel very lucky to live in a country like Australia, i cant understand how stressful it must be for some of you to be paying such expensive bills, especially if bubs is a surprise.

I'm in the U.S. I didn't pay a penny. All covered by insurance.

My c-section cost me about $18,000, thankfully all covered by insurance! Can't imagine not having insurance though :flower:

dont need insurance here in new zealand its all free
i no you get 5 grand in australia but i dont know if you have to pay for the care during the pregnancy

wow some expenses are really high, but i guess you do anything to have a little baby :)

It's "free" here in Canada (covered under healthcare similar to NHS). Optional private rooms cost about $180-200/day but is covered under most health plans. However, most hospitals have private rooms anyways.

I ticked the first one. It's all free except for scans which are $50NZD (though that's variable and some areas may even be free) each for the first 2 trimesters. The first one in 3rd tri costs, but not other ones if you need them. Most people only need 2 scans, the 12 week and the 20 week.
