Was at the hospital wiht one of my friends who is 20yrs old and 27wks pregnant and had some bleeding.

Whiles there they told her they wanted to do an internal to see where the blood was coming from and she refused.

They put the monitor on her belly and she sooked the whole time. Saying it was uncomfy and she couldnt breath..

The MW were getting very angry at her and she sooked so much till they took it off and just sent her home.

If you were bleeding wouldnt you want to make sure that the baby ok?

Im really angry at her

If its to help the baby and it isnt going to harm you i see no reason you would refuse.

I personally would have allowed an internal but some people are really frightened by it and she may have been in denial that anything was wrong.

i probably would have said no to an internal if they had asked me first time because i would be embarassed but once they expressed how important it would be i would definitely let them do it once i realise how important it is for the baby.

i cant believe she complained about the monitor though...sounds a bit strange

Why did she even bother going in? I cant believe she is bleeding and not worried about the baby!

Yup, that is what I am thinking...

Im sorry but if i was bleeding i would want an internal to see where is was coming from..

And the monitor!!!!! OMG I loved having it on, i loved hearing that he was ok..

Sorry im just so angry

She may be scared that an internal = causes baby to come early.

I hope she and baby are ok xxxx

bleeding may be a sign they baby was coming early, or something bad was happening.

Sorry i just think she should of even just listened to the MW

I think she should have too but who knows what's going on in her mind right now.

i dont mean to sound rude, but you sure she actually was bleeding?? Not the attention seeking type is she?? Its the only reaosn i can think of as to why she wouldnt want the tests..including the monitor

if it was me i would listen to what the mw said as bleeding isnt always a good sign, when i had pains previously and went to labour ward, as much as i didnt want a internal just to check my cervix as (i hadnt groomed lol) i still had it as i put baby 1st and all was ok but just nice to have ur mind at rest and yeh the monitor is great as u get to hear lil baby my mw had to sit with me as my lil one was on a hyper mode and wouldnt sit still lol.

Hope your friend and baby is ok but yep she should have just listened?? is she bleedin still xxx

I hope she is okay and baby okay too.

Her age has nothing to do with it, I'm 20 (yesterday lol) and would never ever refuse anything suggested by a MW or DR! xxx

I've bled through my 2 pregnancies and I was worried sick that there was something wrong. I was straight to the MW/DR then later to the hospital for a scan/monitoring. I can't understand your friend, its not like the monitor hurts!

I always laugh at people who are pregnant and scared of an internal :dohh: where the hell do you think your pushing baby out...

You dont sound rude!

I was thinking the same thing :(

Wow! When I bled I pretty much flew to the maternity unit and demand they look at my lala and let me listen to babies heart! I would have had an ultrasound, needles, anything if it would help my little girl xx

Bahahahah EXACTLY! i went to be monitor the other night and i had two of those straps on me and they didnt itch or bug me what so ever i love having them on bc they let me and the midwifes know baby was happy and safe! and when she had to check me to see if i was dilating any of course i didnt want her all up in there but the safety of my baby comes before my own comfort:dohh: seriously does she have a screw loose? dont you want to know if ur baby is in danger? if anything happens to her baby it's all on her hands :nope: for being so negligent of his/her safety.

Internals can trigger contractions, that's why some of us don't want them, they can start scarier business!

Sulking while being checked to see if your baby is ok? OMG would have smacked her, sounds a little selfish.

the monitor is ace isn't it !! i could hear what he was upto in there kept going ah ha you little monster!! i loved watching his heartbeat too up and down !! it doesn't hurt and its certainly not tight !! mine wriggled under it twice !! as for bleeding i would do anything to make sure my baby is ok so no i dont understand i would say shes very nervous but being pregnant you have to overcome that for bubs sake x
