When I was pregnant, my bump was massive. I had polyhydramnios and all sorts of other complications and I tore my rectus sheath muscle. It was quite painful during pregnancy and after I had my LO it eased off a bit.

I am now 13 weeks PP and it's starting to give me some pain again. If I lie down flat on my bed, I can fit my whole fist directly under my ribs, it's torn about 10cm across. If I sit up straight, it's quite painful to touch and in the last week, a lump has appeared. It's not very big, but big enough that you can feel it.

I'm going to go to my GP and ask about it but I wondered if any of you had experienced similar?

I have this but my gap is 3 fingers width, i was having physio and i had to wear a tubigrip from under my bust down to my crotch.

Were you having any treatment for yours? you should be wearing one of those supports at the very least, it sounds like you have developed a hernia.

The only real way to repair this is through surgery as the muscles will never reattach themselves.

Whatever you do, do not do sit ups, don't hoover or sweep don't lift anything too heavy. All of those things will worsen the gap as they pull on the muscle and pull them apart even more.

The GP should help with a referral, hope it gets sorted for you soon. x

Oh god, really?! I had thought a hernia was a possibility but I wasn't sure you could get them that high up

I was sent for physio for my SPD but they never did anything about the torn muscle. I don't suppose there's much you can do when you're pregnant anyway. The gap has gotten bigger since I had my LO, like I say I can get my whole fist in it!

I'd best get ringing the doctor hey?! :growlmad:

Thank you for your reply, I really appreciate it! x
