Hey

Is there anyway do you think of regisiting the birth with my maiden name as I am going though a divorce and he is nothing to do with my baby
or do I have to change my name by deed poll

Also what Id do you need to take with you

Hey hun, Your baby can have any surname you like, doesn't have to be the same as yours (or FOBs for that matter!)

Not sure what you have to take with you I can't remember :dohh:

im fairly sure you can name the baby whatever you like. all we had to take was parent ID. and cash to buy the certificates as they didnt take cards etc.

Thanks hun, I have a feeling I am gonna have to change my name by deed poll but a may phone up and ask if they will let me if I take my birth certificiate

right the little simple one is free but that wont get baby a passport if you want one. so you have to buy a "full" certificate. ours was £7. bit of a con really on the governments part i reckon.

the reason they need the full one to issue passport is cos it gives details of parents and where they were born etc etc....anti terror legislation dont you know. but you dont get that certificate free....so you are paying out for a passport and certificate. lots of extra pennies in the coffers of downing street.

I phoned up the registra this morning and was told both parents dont need to bring Id with them to register the birth. The only thing you need is your dischange papers from the hospital.

So I phoned the hosptial and they have changed my name to my maiden name, no probs I am in the process of changing my name anyway but the seperation wont be sorted till after the birth

Just one thing I didnt know, If you are not married to FOB but get married after the birth you have to change LOs birth certificate to say that you are now married
