The last few feeds LO has cried around feed time, so I make up her bottle (Using cool boiled water, I heat the desired amount in the microwave, then add the formula and shake it up ready to go). By the time I am ready to give it to her she has fallen to/back to sleep. The last 2 I have woken her up to have the bottle cos I don't want to waste it but have found she doesn't settle as well after compared to if she is awake herself. (Just made up one now and it's just sitting here. Don't want to wake her cos she's a bit unsettled from getting her needles today).

Can I, if I have already heated and made up the bottle, put it back in the fridge and just heat it up again when she is ready for it? I know the container says make it up for immediate use.

I find that the formula dissolves better in warm/hot water. My nan & step mother were quite surprised I made them up individually and didn't have several already made up in the fridge ready to just heat. Is it safe to have it warmed, then cooled, then warmed again for every bottle (not just an occasional one if it's safe too)?

I personally wouldnt reheat a bottle of formula.

The way I've always made up Evie's bottles is every evening, make sure they're all clean and sterile, boil the kettle, leave it for 20 minutes then pour the required amounts of water in each bottle (7oz in Evie's case) Then I just leave them on the side. They're not in direct sunlight, and not exposed to any extreme heat and because it's just cooled boiled water, it's ok for up to 24 hours.
So when Evie wants a bottle, I just heat up the bottle of cooled water, add the milk powder, shake, and away we go :) It's just so much easier that way, and even tho it's not a recommended way of doing it, it works for us and many other mums on here too

Thats what I do, except I just leave the cooled boiled water that is in the bottles, in the fridge. I think I'll just keep doing this. It only takes 2mins (if that) to make a bottle.

i make up all my bottles in the evening with boiling water then add formula, stick them in cold water for halfhour then put them in the fridge.. I then boil the kettle just before every feed to reheat them. But if lo is very very hungry i stick them in the microwave. I wouldnt reheat tho. Xx

i wouldn't reheat due to bacteria growth it could make LO have a poorly tum, i keep boiled water in the fridge and make as i go, With my older 2 when i did there bottles i made the milk up kept it in the fridge and warmed a bottle when they wanted one but the way we make bottles up have changed for some unknown reason.

I put 3 ozs of cooled boiled water in each bottle. Then add 2ozs of boiling water to them when I need one. Add the milk and shake :) Just the right temp too!x

Well if Isaac doesn't drink his whole bottle, then I do re-heat it within the hour if he wants it....so far we've had no problems, but I never allow the bottle to be used after 1 hour.

Nicola xx

i reheat within the hour... ie if Ollie only took say 5oz went for a 20 min nap and then woke up again i would reheat the other 4oz (we're on 9oz bottles) but i wouldnt if the bottle had been laying for longer than 1hour with the formula added..

saying that on the premade cartons of milk it says 2 hours it should be consumed within xx

I used to make up my bottles with my son for 1-2 days at a time, line them all up in the fridge and heat when needed. I never re-heated though, but I also used the concentrate liquid :)
