I've been having a massive clear out and having found some of los cutest outfits put them a side. Then I got wondering is a new baby wearing them dangerous? I know mattresses are a no go but what about clothes? Are there any risks?

I've never heard of any risks with baby clothes, as long as they're freshly washed I can't see a problem

You can put clothes in a washing machine on 60C (less than 60C doesn't kill bacteria) which kills bacteria and makes them ok & nice to wear.

Mattresses can't be washed effectively to ensure all bacteria is removed, best to use a new one.

That's what I thought, thanks ladies :)

It's fine, just give them a wash.

The reason for new mattress per baby is mainly due to the indentations (often unseen) left by first baby's sleeping patterns in the springs/mattress foam that can make it more of a suffocation risk for next baby. Babies need nice firm mattresses.
