This is my 5th Pregnancy and My MW has rang to say My blood results where Rhesus Positive, She didnt say what it is or anything? Why has this not been picked up in my last pregnancy's?
Also she told me in my notes I had genestal diabetes With my Twins in 2012 had a Baby since then? I didnt know about this or was even told, I had pre-eclampsia - Im seeing a Specialist on 23rd Feb

I am no expert, but if you are positive it means you should not have any problems. Problems arise when the mother is negative, but the baby is positive (due to the father), if the baby's blood mixes with the moms, her body can treat the baby's blood as something bad (because it has antigens and hers doesn't) which is dangerous. I don't think being positive causes any problems. If you are negative, you get extra shots.

I'm Rh positive, so I didn't have any issues. My sister is Rh Negative, and so she will need shots and stuff.

Arrr It must be Rhesus Negative then ( sorry ) All she said is that when I had jabs when I was younger havent worked... x

As the post above said, positive is good and what you want! They probably just never mentioned in previous pregnancy because it's only a concern if it's negative, then you can have problems with baby 2 or more as you immune system can attack the baby. It's because of your blood type not immunisation but easy to treat with some jabs

If you do have a negative blood type it might be worth it to have your partner's blood typed as well. :flower: My first OB suggested it to my husband at my first appointment because I'm A Negative, and since he turned out to be A Negative as well I won't need the rhogam shots with any of my pregnancies. It gave me peace of mind as well!

I am O- and it just means that I will get a shot at 28 weeks and before the baby is born to prevent blood incompatibility.

I don't think there is much to be concerned about.

im rhesus positive and im super happy i am although at first i had no clue what it meant!

Rhesus positive or negative has nothing to do with vaccinations. Are you sure she didn't mean you were positive for something else? Sometimes they check for antibodies for certain diseases which show if you've been exposed to certain viruses.

If you're Rhesus negative you're supposed to have an injection at 28 weeks pregnant every time plus another one within 48 hours of birth if the baby is Rhesus positive.

I would definitely get clarification. Did she say you were positive for Anti-D possibly? You can form an Anti-D if you are Rh negative.

If you are Rh (or Rhesus) negative, you likely would have gotten Rhogam/WinRho/Rh immune globulin shots during your previous pregnancies. Normally you would get them with any bleeding episodes, routinely at 28 weeks and after baby is born (if baby is Rh Positive or Rh Unknown).

I think she must have meant something else, if she mentioned previous immunisations hadn't worked, as your rhesus status isn't anything to do with vaccinations. Could she have said rubella positive maybe? I'd give her a call and ask for clarification, and about the GD- that would really worry me that they hadn't mentioned it during your GD+ pregnancies! How could you control it is you didn't know; I would be so angry!

I have been that with both my pregnancy's and it is fine you will need a anti d injection at 28 weeks and straight after you have your baby nothing to worry about
