Ridiculous Question: Did YOU have a reaction after baby's MMR?

Evening ladies!

Possibly the most stupid sounding question ever, but... Did any of you share a reaction with your child after they had their MMR vaccine? DS had his 10 days ago and (I believe) had the very mild form of measles that is a rare but perfectly ok reaction - according to NHS website. Shortly after I started to feel really ill and had the same symptoms as him for a few days, ending in the same rash, and my husband is the same just a few days behind. We're all better now, but I'm just really confused?! I wasn't able to get a DR apt when we were ill (don't get me started on that!) and can't find anything similar on the web. And now it sounds like my friends little boy is going through the exact same thing and we were with him straight after DS had the vaccine.

Has anyone heard if this before? Surely it's too much of a coincidence to just be a contagious viral infection that exactly matches the mild measles reaction at the same time as having MMR vaccine? But how the heck can we have all been poorly from his reaction when we're all been immunised as well?

Looks like DS now has an ear infection so I will beg borrow or steal a DR apt for mon and ask then, but if anyone has any opinions in the meantime it might stop me from going mad! :winkwink:

*sorry if this is in the wrong section, I don't consider my one year old to be a toddler yet but I guess he's not really a baby anymore either

Many adults lose their immunity to MMR, did you have your titres checked before you got pregnant? The MMR vaccine is a live vaccine so it is possible to develop mild symptoms after vaccination, and if you and your husband have lost immunity then it is entirely possible for you to catch it as well.

I have to get a rubella booster every couple of years because I don't maintain immunity to it.

These Nutella ads are doing my head in!!!!!

Thanks, Jessmke. That is something I thought about, but I'm sure I was checked when I was pregnant, and my friend little boy had his vaccine a few months ago.

True to form, we still can't get a Dr apt and so it will remain a mystery!

Any symptoms from the MMR aren't contagious. While it is a live vaccine the virus isn't secreted by the person who receives it! Had to check this out recently before my LO got it as a pregnant friend had low immunity to rubella! So just coincidental viral infection! Hope this helps!
