I’m 22 weeks and this is my first pregnancy (that survived past 6 weeks) so this is all new to me. Please bear with me!

I have felt my “bump” very low since the beginning which is perfectly normal/logical.

A few days ago my lower abdomen suddenly felt a lot flatter, plus the baby didn’t move much, and when he did it felt much weaker. I’d felt him daily since 15 weeks, and for the last 3 weeks he’s been kicking up a storm -- so of course I got nervous. I used my doppler and his heart was fine (phew!). Because of that I didn't go to the ER and I’m checking his hb in the morning and in the evening until I get to my next appointment which is this Monday.

Anyway…

Now I’m thinking perhaps the “bulk of the bump” has migrated from my lower abs/pelvis to my belly button area and I’m not really smaller...but is it too early for that???

And about the movements: I read up on how to get him to move so I had some OJ, lay still and concentrated on feeling him move and realized he WAS moving, but it felt more near my groin and rectum instead of the front of my belly area. Deeper, I guess, so harder to detect, but I'm unsure if they're as frequent as before or not.

So…could it be that

1) My uterus and baby are rising -- so much so that my lower abs feel a bit flat now? At 22 weeks?

2) Could he have turned from facing my belly to facing my back and is now kicking toward my back, and that’s why I feel him less?

I also have an anterior placenta but didn’t think that was an issue because when he was kicking toward the front I could feel it srong through the placenta.

Any experiences are appreciated :)



Its probably just he's turned around and has his back facing up.
I quite often have days when I don't feel as much movement and full kicks but can feel my bladder and bowel being battered so I know he's still wiggling away :)
Not loads of experience but I hope it helps.

Yes baby has probably moved up a bit and could be facing other way, I was a bit scared a few days ago as the kicks were less frequent and not as hard but I put it down to baby being in different position and possible growth spurt. I'm 21+4. So all sounds normal to me try not to worry.

Never rely on a Doppler once you can feel the baby move. Fetal movement is what's truly important. You need to feel at least 6 in 2 hours. If you don't achieve this the ER is your friend!

It's very much possible for the baby to move all sorts of ways. I can't remember what week I was (but it was close to 20 weeks or so) where one day I had a low bump sticking straight out and then the next day it was higher and flatter.
Just this past week I was completely lopsided with the baby sticking out on my left side and my right side almost looking flat. It's very easy for things to change like that. As long as you feel baby moving and you hear him on the doppler, everything is fine.

Thank you, ladies. I'd been reading other accounts of this happening around 20-22 weeks and they all said the same thing: they went to the doc, had a heartbeat check, all was well and they were sent home. I was happy to see all those ladies delivered healthy babies, too.

I felt him move, albeit less, but a couple of days later he is back to being plenty active :)

I just got to the chapter in my pregnancy book that talked about babies having slower days. it also said theyre usually felt the most between 24-28 weeks when they're getting stronger and still have plenty of room, but it did warn to keep an eye on movement and see a doc if you were truly worried.

I'm glad to know the belly can change its general shape (not just get bigger). I didn't really know! I found this info comforting:https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/deathisadrummer/72a34e57ee77015f9aa065295b17877d.jpg
