Robitussin- is the pain really worth the gain?

CD 7 for me & i got a high on my CBFM which means i will ovulate within the next 2 days (i always get a peak 2 days after my high). So i started taking Robitussin to help in the CM department.

Has anyone tried this?? And is it really worth it? I can still taste it... & it tastes like a really bad shot of alcohol

I've not tried this yet- but was thinking about it with my 2nd round of Clomid/IUI...? It certainly won't help when I have the IUI- but, when we DTD prior to or after the IUI, I'm thinking any little help to get any additional swimmers up there is worth it! lol.

Is there a generic brand you can get that would maybe taste better? We do have preseed, so might just use that instead? I don't know just yet- I've heard some good things about Robitussin... but there's no miracle cure! So who knows?!

I've been using Robitussin because I rarely get ewcm, just watery. I used it this cycle, had ewcm for one day and got my BFP! Yes, it tastes horrible, but it does work.

I took it the cycle I got my bfp, and it def helped with cm. That said I could smell it coming out of my pores. I say worth it, but maybe try it for a cycle..? Good luck?

Thank you! & to you also!! I am using preseed as well.. i find it kinda sticky but its worth it if it gets me that BFP! I GUESS i can handle the taste for a few days haha.. i'll let you know if it does any good... by the sounds of it, from the other ladies it does!

I have taken it for 3 cycles. I take 2 tsps in the morning and around 1 1/2 tsp at night. I take it for about 3 days before O and a day after.. Tastes Horrible but my cm has improved greatly. Still no BFP yet, but heres to Hoping. I have also tired Pre-seed this cycle as well..

I took it from CD9 to ov. I had two or three tablespoons each day, morning and night. Also made sure I drank gallons of water. You need to have a lot of fluid to turn into ewcm.

I've been wondering this myself. I've heard that you have to take the expectorant, not suppressant. But, most Robitussin is both, so I'm having trouble finding that! I've also heard of some women taking Mucinex for the same reasons. Anyone tried that?

The robitussin i found has only Guestafin( i have no idea how to spell it) as the active medical ingredient.. that is the one you want.. it got a green stripe on the box and says it for chest congestion... maybe that will help you?

Robitussin does work great! It's recommended by many fertility specialist to help with CM. You need the one where the active ingredient is only guaifenesin. If it has anything else as an active ingredient, you do not want it. There are some off brands that have it. Mucinex (with active ingredient guaifenesin).. what's great about Mucinex is that you don't have that after taste because it is a pill. Also, it has a Maximum Strength (which I am taking right now)... So I take it as directed and I get 1200mg per dose... 2 doses in 24 hours. It's time released version which I like, so I don't have to keep reminding myself to take 2 tbl spoons all day long. Just one tablet in the morn and one in the night. And it works the same as Robitussin which I have used before. It really does help a lot... but like someone said before you have to drink a lot of water so that it can make it into tons of mucus!

I get a runny nose.. mainly because it breaks up the mucus in my sinuses. Which is a plus for me.. no sinus headaches!!! woohoo!
