well for what seemed a good pregnancy soon changed. I attended my midwife for a check up at 38 weeks to be told baby wasnt showing any growth and was measuring small. She arranged for a scan that day (thursday) and off we went to the hospital. The scan showed babies tummy and femur bone to be out of proportion for her body and she felt it best for baby to be induced. From the scan they guessed a weight of 4lb12 and it was looking more and more likely that the baby did have downs syndrome with a high DRF earlier on i wanted to crawl into ball. She called the labour ward but there was no beds till sunday wow I had three days to ponder on it. So I went home and prepared myself got the house ready and things as you do.
We managed to get a bed on the sunday and went down for 6 o clock. I was given my first internal at 10 and was given prostin in the hope to soften the cervix so they could burst my waters. By 1 o clock the prostin was given me a lot of pain and I was given paracetamol. I was checked 6 hours later but no change, so I was given a second lot at 3 o clock but nothing again. On The tuesday I was given another lot and then sent to rest for 12 hours on the postnatal ward. I was really tired as I was having these pains non stop. So I had some codeine and it nocked me to sleep. The next day I was given my third lot and was told if this did nothing that I would be down for a section.
Tuesday night I really thought this is it the pains were comming really bad and they were hoping they would be able to burst my waters at midnight but no joy so emotionally drained from it all I took the meptid and was told nill by mouth and was given ranitidine to get rid of any tummy acid ready for a section.

Luckily for a me a miracle the next morning they told me they could burst my waters but it would be hard. I decided to go for it using the gas and air they managed to do this. By this time it was 12:30 and by 5 o clock I couldnt take no more so had an epidural and I was ready to start pushing at 10:40 and Ruby was born at 11:05.

Giving the fact id had a lot of specialists come to see me about Ruby on ways of coping etc, what medication is available and things. Ruby came out at a wopping 6lb14 and has absolutely nothing wrong with her thank god. Shes the most perfect little girl anyone can dream of and im smitten with her.

I did have second degree tears so i was glad of the epidural when they had to sort that out and would recomend to anyone to have one. and thats about it from me. Im just a proud mum now with a spoilt daughter I absolutely adore. x :happydance:
