My DH came over to take us out last night (he's in a major grovelling stage atm!:haha: as we are on a trial living apart basis )
I admit I'm an awful Ironer so he took over and started doing my dress for me, he put it down on the floor for a second, he realised straight away and went to grab it but Ds got there before him, poor guy feels so guilty bless him but he really couldnt have done more it was like one of those slow moment films we we all rushed for him but didnt get there in time.
we rushed him to the bathroom and put his hand under cold water for a bit like they say but it has still blistered, he only cried that one time and as been as happy as larry since, it came out in a blister on the palm of his hand (not that big neither really considering as he had just touched the side of it iyswim?)
Our SIL told us to leave it and to only cover it when it bursts but all the advice seems to be to cover it now so I am a bit confused?what would you mum's do?

I don't think it needs medical treatment as it really doesnt look bad and doesnt seem to be bothering him at all:shrug:

I'd do the same as you SIL says. Only cover it if it bursts or if he starts playing with it! I'm no expert though.

thanks rach321, i'm quite impressed at the fact its not fazing him iykwim, havent had to even give him calpol or anything?

Also I know it sounds daft but is it supposed to be a certain colour, im not sure what changes I need to look out for if any?

My mum accidentally burnt me with an iron when I was little and its done me no harm (accept when she asks why my clothes are creased and I tell her its her fault that she burnt me with the iron as I dont like them when the truth is I cant be bothered with ironing).

Burns usually change colour and get darker and then fade to a scar - the scar might take some time to fade but it will eventually

I'd either ring NHS Direct or take him to see the nurse at your local GP just to make sure you're doing it all right. Aisling burnt her hand very very badly in a cup on tea and as soon as the blisters came up, they burst them all and then kept the hand covered in bandages for 2 weeks. Alot more serious than your case I know but they did say it wasn't advised to leave the blister unburst at this age as you can't control when it happens and until new skin has grown, you risk infection leaving it uncovered.

any burn that blisters should be seen by a medic, as theres a huge risk of infection, what they like to do now is actually pop the blister and clean out the wound, then they put sterile dressings on which they usually change every 2 days then they cut away the skin around the blister to reveal the new skin underneath then that too is kept under a sterile dressing for a while. they should then give you a moisturiser to rub into the new skin daily to prevent scarring

my son burned his hand recently and has no scar now after 2 huge blisters wheres my other son got a tiny splash blister on his face which we didnt see anyone for and he now has a scar there

hth xx

If the area turns white it needs medical attention, no matter how small it is. Dec touched our hob not that long ago and burnt his little hand, I didnt think anything of it because it was only 2-3 small blisters, but my father came and had a look (he is a fireman) and straight away he said because the blister was white it needed to be looked at :( He was seen at a&e that night and had to be seen by a plastic surgeon the next day :( It turned out fine, but they covered his hand in cream and sterile bandages. I would keep a close eye on it and see how it goes.
