septate uterus

I am 28 also. We are now offically ttc our first. We had some whoopies before with my other pregnancies, but hopefully everything will be fine from here on out.

Hi All,
I replied to this thread a bit ago (my story is on page 2 or 3). I just wanted to say good luck to you all who are currently going through this.

I had one mmc due to a septum and immediately opted to have mine removed since it extended the entire length of my uterus. I was 31. After having it removed it took me 3 cycles for my uterus to recover and then 5 months of trying naturally to conceive. When I was doing the research on this a year ago, I read most women have a 1-2 cycle recovery period and then on average it takes them 4-6 mths to conceive naturally. I think it takes so long to conceive afterwards because it takes a while for the uterus to recover and the lining to fully grow back. I do remember the period I had the month before we conceived was the worst one to date. My doctor said it was most likely because my lining had finally regenerated completely and I was healed.

I wish you luck and hope you all have quick ttc times. Try not to get discouraged if it takes a couple of months though, it's just your body healing.

Thank you so much for your words of encouragement:hugs: I had mine removed in March of this year. My doctor placed an IUD in right after the surgery so that my uterus could heal. I just took it out finally three weeks ago and started trying right away. I am hoping that since the surgery was in the beginning of this year, I have given my uterus plenty of time to heal and that I will be able to concieve quickly. *fingers crossed*

hmm... My fertility specialist put me on estrogen and then added progesterone this month (following the surgery) to get the lining to grow back. Were you guys put on these too following your surgery?

Not me.

well congratulations on your pregnancy starrbabes! That's very exciting! and thanks for your encouraging words too, It's always hugely helpful to hear a positive story shared from someone in your same predicament.
so you are 20 weeks, do you know the sex yet? :)

off subject, hopefully this isnt too gross to mention, but I just got my first period since the resection and there is SO much blood... Was this the case for everyone else?
also, did anyone have a follow up HSG after the surgery and if so, was it painful at all as a result from the surgery?

thanks!

any other happy stories are always welcome for anyone else out there to share! :)

Thanks, yes, we're having a boy!
Also, yes, my periods got heavier and heavier each month after the surgery and the doctor said it was because I was healing and my lining was growing back appropriately.

I have a septate uterus also and my hubby and I are expecting our first right now. When I was diagnosed with it, they classed it as a "normal aberration" and said that there is nothing that would interfere with ttc or pregnancy. Mine is tiny, just a nubbin or outward type of dimple on an otherwise smooth surface.

My doctor put me on estrogen for a month.

Nothing is to gross to mention on here:thumbup: I did not have a heavy period after my surgery. I had the IUD in so that might have made it not as bad. I have not had a follow up HSG but that sounds like a good idea. Hopefully it will not be painful!

That is so great that it will not interfere with getting pregnant!! Congrats on your pregnancy!

Thank you ladies! My OB was great about explaining it to me - she made a point of letting me know that mine wasn't considered a problem. I'm really thankful for that!

hehe I like the description they gave you! When I looked it up I saw pictures of different varieties of septate, and from what my OB said, my uterus is nice and smoothly round with just a tiny dimple sized bit bumping out from the top. I'm glad to hear that yours didn't interfere with the pregnancy though!

Hello, I am 27 now, when i was 23 i got pregnant with my son, he was born transverse with an emergency c section. 2.5 years later, been trying for 2 years, went to a fertility specilist and found out i have a septum which goes all the way down. I also have scarring from the previous d n c. I had an early MC about 5 months ago. My son did not implant on the septum and was fine, but he was very squashed and was sideways. I have not been able to get pregnant since, last Tuesday I had a hysteroscopy to remove the septum and scarrs, I am on estrogen for 40 days and I have a balloon in my uterus to stop any new scarring from forming. I will have it out next Wednesday, has to be in for 2 weeks. feels very uncomfatable. So hopefully come Feb, we can start trying again. Has anyone else had a balloon in? I will have a follow up sono after.

Hi Mazzie! I had the balloon/foley put it after my surgery. It was supposed to stay in for 2 weeks to help the uterus heal and retain it's new shape but they had to take it out early as my body started rejecting it. A week after the surgery I went on a little walk with my husband and when I got home I started cramping really bad. My body was rejecting it and trying to give birth to it. NOT fun.

I recommend waiting until the balloon is out before resuming any exercise as I believe this is what triggered the 'labor'.
But all in all it was just really uncomfortable as you say.

How are you healing? Mine was very fast recovery, I was very pleased with it.
I had my follow up HSG last week and I have to have another hysterocopic surgery next month to remove the scar tissue it left behind so my uterus is 'perfect' (doctors words)
but hey, if it means I have a perfect uterus, I will do ANYTHING. and hysteroscopic surgery isn't all that bad. Its the laproscopic which really sucks.

but I wonder if the balloon had stayed in for the whole 2 weeks if it would be fine?
anyhoo! I hope this is it for you! and they say you can try again maybe in Feb? that's great news! GL!!

What did it feel like when your body was rejecting it, I went to the mall all day on wednesday and by the end of the day it was very uncomfortable and kinda sore, I had an achey womb, felt awful all night, had to take pain killers, it feels like this every evening now. i keep getting a stinging sore feeling on the left side of my c section scar, but inside, I was worried. I am hoping it just recovering. Where is the scar that is in your uterus?
They said it would take 2 months all together. I had surgery dec 6th. Did you tube keep falling out. Mine hasn't fell out but it keeps poking out the entrance of my vagina lol. annoying. I called the clinic they said, oh just push it back up there! did it hurt when they took it out?
