Help! I've been experiencing some degree of back pain for a while now, but in the last week it has increased daily and now it's bordering on unbearable. The pain is in a strange spot: under my right shoulder blade, sweeping down and to the outside. It feels as though someone is stabbing me/hitting me; I think the pain is muscular, but I'm not positive. Massage does nothing, Tylenol (aceteminophen, paracetemol) does nothing, heat doesn't help much. No matter what position I try - sitting, standing, lying down, on my side, back, other side - it hurts. I tend to sleep on my left side, curled up, with a pillow between my knees, which is one of the (relatively speaking) better positions. During the day at work I'm in agony. Sitting at the computer, on our couch, in a chair (hard or soft), slouched or upright, it just never lets up. It has gotten to the point where I have a lot of trouble getting to sleep and the pain wakes me up repeatedly in the night, and my work is suffering - I can't concentrate because of the pain and tiredness. I spend my days contorting myself into strange positions to try and find relief, but as my belly grows, it just keeps getting worse. Can anyone suggest anything? I'm going to ask my OB about this at my next appointment (next Thursday), but meanwhile I'm at a loss. Thanks for listening.
