Severe mood swings getting off the pill?

I stopped taking the pill a little over 5 weeks ago. Now I go from being happy to crying to severe depression or feeling nothing, then do it all over again! Has anyone had severe mood swings getting off birth control? I hope it doesn't take too long to start producing the right amount of hormones to get back to normal. I do not like feeling so emotional.
