Should babies nap where they sleep at night?

I swear I read this somewhere and I'm curious to see if it's something many moms try to do? I know my LO needs to be able to nap in noisy environments and so far we've left her in the living room with the tv on - but she's had a rough few days with very little nap time and I put her in her nursery where it's much dimmer and quieter and she's napping great right now. Of course, I'm a new 1st time mom and quite the worrier right now... :)

Sophie doesn't nap upstairs, but I think lots of babies do? Especially when they get older. I think you should do what works for you LO, all babies are different :).
Does she have trouble sleeping in the pram outside where it's noisy?

I'm a first time mum too and Im not sure what the general consensus is, it's probably not at all structured enough but Oliver naps wherever he lays his head, though I try to put him in his cot for daytime naps (he sleeps soundly in there during the night) sometimes he won't stay in his cot so I've taken to trying him in his cot and if not I return him to where he last was whether it be his playmat, his swing or the couch and then he naps ok.

Evie's never napped upstairs on her own, not because we don't want her to but because she hates it. I like it though because now she sleeps through lots of noise! (I have a big family, our neighbours are noisy, and she stays asleep when we're out!)

Every parent and baby is different though, do what works for you and your LO :D

A naps upstiars in her cot, where she also sleeps at night, but she is almost 9 months old. When she was your babies age, she slept in the front room despite the noise that went one. It seemed weird to be separated from her for so long at such a young age, as all she did was sleep really. However, if she is happier upstairs, then stick with it. its not doing her any harm, and by the sounds of it, she much prefers it. Theres no right and wrong.

A moved into her own room and cot at 7 weeks old, and as slept fine every night, whilst still sleeping in it for naps during the day.
