Should i be worried??

Hi ladies hope you are all doing well.. So basically my daughter has just turned 18 months old and hardly saying any words. The only words that she says is mama, dada and up when she wants to sit on my knee but thats about it really.. Is this normal for her age? Any answers will be much appreciated xxx

I don't think it's that big of a deal yet since she is saying some words. That's the age we started baby signing and I think it really helped her to be able to tell me what she wanted when she couldn't quite say the words. And she's nearly 2.5 and still asks to watch Baby Signing Time.

Edward was nearly 18m before he started to talk. He's 23months now and wont shut up!! lol

He's still on the naming stage but literally everything gets pointed at and I have to tell him what it is so he can repeat. A simple drive down the road is like a (very loud) shopping list as he names or at least attempts to name everything he sees. At the moment his favourites are lorries, horses and diggers! lol

How does she respond to questions or requests. Can she do things like go and get her shoes or a favourite toy, or put something in the bin? If her comprehension is good then you have no issue at the moment. Just keep up the encouragement, and exposure to words. She'll be fine.

Hi! Try not to worry, but I know it's so hard. My 18 month old doesn't say much either. I read a bit on the internet and delayed speech has more to do with personality than anything. I had my LG checked out and her doctor said as long as she responds to commands and is understanding what is said then there is no need to worry. If you LO isn't responding at all to you, the first thing to check is hearing. If you are certain LOs hearing is fine then you probably just have a deep thinker. Hugs!
