So this is my first baby and I feel like should be better prepaired..... I read on line about women taking their birth plan with them to the hospital and passing them out but I dont even have one. All I know is that I do want the epidural and anything else they want to give for the pain. Do I need to register at my hospital and what do I pack? My doctor never really asks me any questions but maybe I should be the one to ask the questions... I just feel like I am getting close to the end and I have no idea what I am doing or what to expect.... yikes:shrug:

Yep honey u need to register at some hospitals!!! Just conform with ur doc....

We had a hosp tour a few weeks before!!! Was greatly helpful as this is our first one too... Lucky part is my hosp doesnt want me to get anything excet going home outfit and a few things for the baby.

Hope this helps!!! Good luck!!

I would suggest doing a tour of the hospital if you can that way you can at least get an idea of what it looks like and some of their porcedures as well. Also although it isn't required it is reccommended that you preregister. That way your not having to do it when the time comes. It is a very simple form to fill out and mail it. Your doctor may even have the form in their office. As far as hospital bag goes you shouldn't need too much. Many if not most of the hospitals here in the US supply everything under the sun for you and baby, and when go home they send you home with loads of supplies so suggested to bring extra small bag like maybe a reusable grocery bag or something to carry all the supplies in. There are tons of very useful videos on youtube can look at to see what others have brought and many of them have updated versions of what they took but didn't need/use. And deffinitely if you have any questions on anything you should ask your doctor, they will know the policies and procedures of your hospital and also can help guide you with your other questions as well.

Thank you for the replies ladies! I have my appointment on Thursday and I think I am going to ask some questions then. I have always been timid when it comes to doctors so whenever she asks me if I have any questions... I just smile and say no. your advice is very helpful so thank you very much :)

Just ask your doctor hun... that's what I did. I was handed a bag full of goodies and info and it can be a bit overwhelming at times... LOL... so I just asked when to turn the paperwork in etc... and my OB was amazing! She walked me through it all- I even had to ask what to bring to the hospital for me and baby! hehe. That is part of their job hun :)

Thanks Seoj... I just felt like I should know all this stuff by now and I was thinking "man... I am not even sure how to bring this baby into the world.. how am I going to know what to do after he is here??" hehe I know that sounds crazy but it all just seems so over whelming while other mommy's-to-be are experts and ready. I love my OB so I am sure she will be more than helpful!
