Hi

Brief history is that last year I had a pregnancy of Unknown Location, suspected to be in my right tube and was treated with methotrexate.

On 31st Aug I got my bfp - but was suspisious of the tests not getting darker, however after getting a 2-3 weeks on a digi and no bleeding I started to get a little positive. At 5+2 I started to ever so slightly spot. At 5+3 I went for aq scan, nothing could be seen, not unusual for 5+3. However there was a trace of free fluid. I had bloods done at they were 1020, with prog of 24.5. I also did a urine sample which was very faint and the nurse admitted to me it wasn't looking good. I was devastated and felt that history was repeating itself. At 5+5 I had bloods done again and they were 620 - so it was treated as a failing pregnancy and appeared to be resolving itself. The brown spotting turn to blood, with a few clots and one night this week I have woken in a lot of pain.

This morning I would be 6+5 today - I had to go back to EPAU and give a urine sample, they were expecting it to be neg - in fact it was a striong positive.

So I am now sitting here terrifed I'm having another ectopic, scared I will rupture, and also scared of having methotrexate again. I have trawled the net looking for "sucess" stories to give me hope, but in truth i know that this is bad.

Has anyone had similar experiences that they can share?

Thanks for reading.

What are they at EPAU planning to do? Will they give you another scan to check?
Strong positive can mean your hcg is rising nicely and they might be able to see something on u.s.

I sure hope that it is NOT ectopic but just a slow bean catching up!

{{{hugs}}}

Thanks for the reply hun, well it was another ectopic.

Basically scan showed a "mass" next to my right ovary, though not attached to it very close to it in the fallopian tube. They feel it is most likely an ectopic pregnancy but were concerned that my levels had decreased and the increased, which can be a sign it is not a pregnancy at all and a cyst or tumour (but scared when they said that) as the can also release the hormone. Whilst it is not unusual for ectopics to cause fluctuation in hcg it is not common either - but given that I was ttc and got a positive tests 14dpo they say it is most likely an ep.

Anyway i then had the choice to make - methotrexate (same as last time) would hopefully resolve the pregnancy without the need for surgery, or surgery, potentially losing my tube but removing the mass and then testing it to see what it is for certaibn. Risks of surgery is losing tube, scar tissue and complications.

The registrar was opting for surgery, but the consultant over-ruled and felt methotrexate should be tried, if it works then we know it's a pregnancy, if not then we go for surgery. What we decided was that I would give methotreaxte a go - but if I need a second dose as I did last time I'm going with suregry - I was leaning towards surgery tbh, thinking that as it's my right again i may be better off without it - but they have said they will test it for blockage when this was over, and I don't want to lose it without confirmation it is blocked.

So that's me, had the drug yesterday, now it's a waiting game.

This is my second ectopic in nine months, I'm devastated and starting to wonder if I'll have give my child a sibling.

xx

Looloobelle, so sorry to hear that it is another ectopic.

I know all these 'ding dongs' at the hospital can be very frustrating, at least the consultant is helpful and looking into all angles. I've also read regarding elevated HCG as indication of certain cyst and tumor, let's just hope yours is ectopic and methotrexate works.

I hope god will speed up your 'waiting' game and let it be smooth one. Hope you'll be blessed with a happy, healthy pregnancy in the near future. Don't give up, keep trying.

Meantime, take time to heal, make sure you hydrate yourself well, take nourishing food and if you need to cry, just do it.

xx
