DS is nearly 5 months. I need to get a little water into him as he's a bit constipated but when I try with a bottle he only has a few sips before he realises it's not milk and refuses it. Do you think it would be ok to see if he'll take it from a sippy cup even though I haven't started weaning him? Or will it confuse him?

He's on anti-reflux formula so I can't water it down slightly to give him more fluids that way.

Since your baby is bottle-fed, it won't hurt to use a sippy cup. My baby would not take water from a bottle or a sippy cup, but he loves ice cold water out of a glass. He will share with me, no problem, and has since he was 4 months old. So, another idea is to just try a regular cup and control how much he can get at a time. Just make sure he can only get sips, not gulps, so he doesn't choke.

If he still refuses water, you could probably offer him a tiny bit of 100% prune juice in some water. The flavor might help to get him drink it, and the prunes will definitely help with the constipation. That is, if you're comfortable with this, of course. My oldest was so constipated, and this was the only thing that helped, but it did not affect the weaning process.

We have only ever offered water in a sippy cup, never a bottle. I'm sure it will be fine and won't affect weaning. As pp also said, a very small amount of prune juice should help if nothing else does x
