Just curious...

When LO wakes you in the night and you tend to them, but are absolutely dying to close your eyes again...what do you do to keep yourself awake (if anything)?

I check my FB page on my droid, usually...or play solitaire.

When she wakes I feed her in her room in the dark so she doesn't wake up too much so i find it so hard not to close my eyes. I'm finding it so much harder now I'm back at work :sleep:

at the moment i have the cot next to the bed and i can just reach over the side and pop his dummy back in, thats all he wakes for normally. but i remember in the first few weeks it was sooo tough keeping my eyes open, i lost count of the number of times i fell asleep while feeding LO (i used to lie him on the bed between me and OH) if i fell asleep id let the bottle slip and LO would cry and i woke up instantly again and gave it back to him! what a nasty mummy i am falling alseep!

Read email/FB/browse the web on my phone while he feeds. Unfortunately for me, if I wake in the night (which is most nights to nurse) it often take me an hour or two, sometimes three to get back to sleep. :coffee:

I close my eyes and take a cat nap while he eats.

When I was in hospital just before little one was born, the midwife told me I would never read a book again...

...well, during those first few months, I ploughed through a tonne of books whilst nursing my son through the night...I actually quite enjoyed this time!!

Now, however, where he is waking up more than ever (bloomin' teeth!!), I keep the lights low, plus he is too nosey now to try to do anything, so I just go into a sleepy trance untill he goes off again...not good, as I went back to work this week, so I'm pooped!! :coffee:

I use my itouch! The light definitely keeps me awake. best thing my OH ever bought me (apart from my engagement ring haha!)

I play scrabble on my phone lol, or just browse through facebook or bnb! x

i just fall asleep lol

my little one wont feed unless holding his head as well as bottle so no reading for me

Tobi is only up for 15 minutes max once sometimes twice in the night now, so I tend to have a catnap while he is feeding, then when he pulls off, that wakes me up. Back in his cot and me back to bed. Because I don't really wake up, I drop off straight away again.

However when he was newborn and took an hour to feed, I would sit and read while he fed. Having the light on didn't really make much of a difference.

:haha: I read lots of books in the early days too and I also found it strangely enjoyable, now I just sit there daydreaming, longing for the day when he sleeps through the night :haha:

I remember the early days when he was up every 2 hours and I was a complete zombie and he'd be on my boob for about 45 minites, then stay awake for ages and sometimes scream for a long time too - omg my eyelids were soo heavy, it was torture. Staying awake in those first few weeks was HELL!
xx
