Hey ladies,

Just wondering if any of you have had a big baby or babies first, then had a smaller baby? My dd weighed 9lb11oz(41 weeks) and my ds weighed 9lb7oz. I had growth scan done when I was pregnant with my ds. At 27+1 he was estimated at 3.5lb and at 35 weeks he was estimated at 7lb14oz. Those estimates were pretty good because he was 9lb7oz when he came at 40 weeks. I just had a growth scan last week for ds2, was 28+1, and he was estimated at 2lb and in 50% for weight. OB said he was just an average size baby. She did say they could pack on alot of weight near end, but I wonder what my chances are for having a smaller baby? Like 8lb or less. I was 29+3 yesterday and my fundal height was 32cm! lol I know ultrasound estimates can be way off sometimes, so I am just curious. Any input would be great:)

Well mine have gotten smaller each time lol. My first was 8 lbs 9, second was 7 lbs 3 but 22 1/2 inches long and I just had my 3 rd and he's 6 lbs 5 and only 19 inches. So tiny! He also stayed in longer than my daughter! I had a scan at 37 weeks they estimated him at 6 lbs 9 Ozs and over 2 weeks later he's born at 6 lbs 5 so they can def be off

Oh wow, that is definitely a difference in baby sizes! :) I am supposed to be induced at 38 weeks because of the complications with my dd's birth. She was a week overdue, face up and swallowed mecomium. The birth was very stressful and I lost quite a bit of blood. My Ob does not want this happeneding again, so I will be delivering before my due date. Any if he comes 2 weeks early, I am just curious how much smaller he might be? lol Would be a much to push him out! thanx for you reply:)

My first baby a girl was 6lb 10oz then my next a boy was 9lb 1oz!!! I was totally not expecting that!! So I was terrified when I had my next boy but he was only 8lb 1oz and my next boy 7lb 10oz! My last one a girl was 7lb 13oz so I don't know what to expect with the boy I'm carrying now.

It always plays on my mind that I've had a 9lb'er and DH's father was over 11lb at birth

Wow, you baby sizes are all over the board!! It is so amazing how each one is so different:) Good luck with the delivery of your little boy, and fx'd you don't have an 11 pounder! :)

My last baby was 9lbs 10ozs so I'm hoping for a more "average" sized baby this time :haha:

A friend of mine had a girl 9lbs 4ozs (4 days late) a boy 9lbs 7ozs (also 4 days late) and then another boy at 8lbs 3ozs, he was a few days early.

xx

I would love an "average" size baby this time too. It would make the pushing so much easier and maybe I would not tear as much.... Gl and fx'd you get a smalle baby too! :)

Not my experience but thought i'd share so that you know it does happen but my mum had smaller babies!

There are 5 of us and the heaviest was my eldest brother at 7lb 4 and we got smaller, i'm the youngest and i was 6lb 2

Thanx for the reply:) I guess I am just so used to having bug babies, it is hard to imagine having a smaller one. Only 9 more weeks until we find out! :)

Kinda different from you but my first baby was 7 pounds 6oz (37 weeks 6 days) and my second was 7 pounds 7oz (39 weeks)... imagine my shock when my 3rd was 9 pounds 13.9oz (39 weeks 5 days). Now with this one I am so worried that she is going to be as big or bigger. I am not worry for labor because labor with my last was my easiest and best memory but I am worried because she had a few problems as an infant that was related to her being so cramped in the womb. The ultrasound predicted this baby to be in the 8-8 1/2 pound range full term. I am as big as I was with my third, I am also gaining weight like I did with my third but she doesn't feel as heavy as my third. I am hoping they will check her again just to be sure she isn't as big.

Wow, 9lb13.9oz is pretty big too. My dd had a few complications after birth too. She had a heart murmur that took a bit of time to go away. But it did, and she was just fine. My dd's birth was so stressful on me and her, but ds's was alot better, but still a "big guy" to push out. I do not feel as big as my previous 2, but there is still time to pack on weight near the end. I have gained less weight with this pregnancy, but it is not too much different.
I would ask for another growth scan closer to your date, would defintely give you a better idea id she will be over 9lbs. My OB will do another scan around 35-36 weeks. Hopefully he will be under 9lbs too:) GL

Mine have also gotten smaller. My 1st son was born 8 days late and weighed 8lb 12oz, my 2nd son was 6 days late and weighed 8lb 10oz, then my 3rd son was 6 days early and weighed 6lb 14oz. So it is possible.

Thanx for you reply:) It is great to hear other ladies experiences.

I'm liking these replies too  Really want this little boy to be no bigger than my smallest boy so far. But I have to say when he moves he feels huge!

My third, born yesterday, was smaller.

1st: 7lb, 14oz
2nd: 8lb, 3oz
3rd: 7lb, 2oz

I'm glad the third was smaller as I had no time for an epidural.
