Smear test after birth?

Hello,

I had my LO 7 almost 2 months ago

My midwife said I should have a smear as part of my routine check up after about 6 weeks. So far I've had my 6 weeks check up with my GP (total waste of time, waited 40 minutes for him to ask me if i was depressed and ask about contraception)
I've also had my gynea appointment (after having a 3rd degree tear) and no one mentioned it then,

Did anyone else have one? Think I will just phone GP to request one,
anyone have any idea?

That's strange no one did it for you. I got my period right before my pp check up and my OBGYN said, "well, pull up your pants then, it's basically just a pap smear."

Maybe the 2 doc both thought the other did it for you. Might as well get swabbed.

Didn't know they were supposed to do a smear as part of your 6 week check. I didn't get one. But then to be honest I've been avoiding it for as long as I can. I'm absolutely petrified of them!

My doc told me at my 6 week checkup that I needed to wait til my LO was 3 months, and to call and make an appointment with the nurse for around that time. I'm BFing - don't know if that makes any difference ...

I didn't get one - I didn't even have an official 6 week check up - I was seeing the doctor every few days then every week then every fortnight to check that everything had returned to normal after the pre-eclampsia, and she just talked about contraception etc at one of those appointments and a smear test was never mentioned.

Thanks for your replies, i phoned the Drs and they said I was to have one when LO is 3 months old.

So I can put it off for another month- hehe! After a 3rd degree tear I am very wary of anyone gong near that area, poor DH...
