So, DH snores...a lot...and very loudly! I, being preggo and all, can no longer sleep soundly at night ignoring his sounds like I used to pre-pregnancy. I am up every couple of hours anyway to pee, but recently I have been up even more often b/c of his snoring. I used to be a deep sleeper, but I am not anymore. And...anytime I wake up at night, I have to pee....so, it seems like every hour I am awake. It also takes me forever to fall back asleep, as he is sooo noisy!

Is anyone else having this problem? What can we do to help this situation. I am constantly waking him up to ask him to roll on his sides (which only occasionally helps), but he has shoulder issues and wakes up in extreme pain if he has been laying on his side for any length of time. We have tried nose strips...which also do not work with him. I read online that the sprays usually don't help either!

I am at a loss, but I need to figure out something because after several nights of sleeping like this, I am ready to attack him in his sleep...lol.

i have. i think i used to sleep through it but for the last couple of weeks we've been having major midnight arguments 'YOUR F*ING SNORING AGAIN' lol and he stomps off and sleeps on the couch and at first i thought awww i miss him in bed and now i just think YES i can get some sleep :(

i kick my oh every time he starts to snore lol but then he can go back to sleep within seconds again and it can take me an hour min to get back to sleep!

i think there is medication they can take or they can have an operation but i hear it is nasty and they spew through their nose after and stuff..

your doctor may have some ideas

xx

My DH snores, but not every night.
He does it when hes really tired, or when he's drunk.

Everytime i'll poke him or whatever to tell him to lay on his side, sometimes he listens and then he lays on his side, falls back into a deep sleep and rolls back on his back.
He has back issues so he's most comfertable on his back! :dohh:

Some nights i get so pissed off i wanna punch him in his mouth...

Im waiting for a solution

Well at least I am not the only one going through this--lol. I need to figure something out. Often I wake him up, ask him to roll over, he replies "yeah, i will"...and then just turns his head to the side.....begins snoring again, I wake him again...tell him that turning his head is not the same as turning his whole body...he laughs and then turns over....temporarily.

Last night he just told me he was unable to roll over!

haha!! Well i'm having the same problem ladies! I find holding a pillow over his head till he stops squirming works for a bit, just don't hold it too long and kill him...although sometimes that seems like a plan too! JK :haha: But really if any of you do find a solution other than separate bedrooms PLEASE let me know. I've been told to try earplugs but i'm scared I won't hear my other kids if they wake up. Sometimes keeping a fan going in my room helps kinda drown it out a bit and it gives you another sound to focus on. But like the rest of you I take forever to fall asleep so it still drives me bonkers! Good luck!

My dh snores too and I wear ear plugs at night. Just on one side though as I am too paranoid I won't hear the kids should they wake.

I buy the foam ones that you squeeze down and when you put them in they sort of expand to the shape of your ear so it blocks out all sound on that side. I will then lay my plug-less ear to the pillow. This lets me fall asleep at least, but I move alot when I sleep and so I know I will have an available ear to hear the kids or anything else. hth! Good Luck, I know all to well what a pain this is! :)

Are they overweight at all? That has a big bearing on it.

I will have to try the earplugs. Do they fall out at night though? I have cats, and I just know that if they find an earplug on the floor or bed they will eat it!

DH is heavier than he used to be, which I know has made his snoring louder than it was in the past, but even back when he was running marathons he snored....I ignored it better then though...lol...perhaps because I was still in the 'honeymoon phase'...lol

OMG this thread made me laugh so hard! I was wondering the same thing last night. I swear his snores got louder ever since I became pregnant.

Usually if it gets really bad I poke him and he turns around, but he snores on his side too. I kinda learned to sort of meditate on his snoring and fall asleep anyway, but only when it's not his really loud obnoxious snore.

Last night after peeing, I couldn't hear him breathe, and I got afraid after awhile in case he has sleep apnea, so I poked him. He turned towards me and started snoring in my ear. I can laugh now but I was like "damn I brought this one on myself!"

That made me actually laugh out loud!

this thread is too funny! The earplugs I use don't ever fall out. I cannot for the life of me think what they're called, but they are basically little pieces of squishy foam. If you squeeze them down they slowly puff back into their shape. Great decription right? :) I have tried my dd's waterproof (for swimming) sticky tack/playdoh-like ones in a pinch and they don't work as good.

My dh gained a lot of weight when he was really sick and on a lot of meds a couple of years ago and that's when he started snoring. My dd2 was still very small and I thought I would never sleep again between her and the snoring. The plugs became my best friend lol He has since lost a lot of weight and doesn't snore much at all anymore, I'd almost forgotten the lovely little plugs :winkwink:

My wife snores like a freight train. Sometimes she'll snore so loud she wakes herself up. I think I'm going to try to get her to try some of those breath right strips if it gets any worse.

I work third shift and use those. I get them in the sporting goods section of walmart in a 10 pack for 2.99. Each pair lasts about a week before they get too gross to keep using.

I hope the breathe right strips work for her. They did nothing for my husband. Half of the time they would fall off before morning...

I will look into those earplugs...the sooner the better...

I am laughing so hard right now! I am in the same situation with DH's snoring. It is awful and I get so mad laying there trying to sleep but listening to the awful snorts coming from him. Sometimes I kick him, or ask him to rollover but that is usually only temporary. Sometimes I yell at him really loudly to SHUT UP and he will wake up and say "did you say something?" and I just pretend like I was sleeping and then hope I get a few moments of peace before he starts again.

He has tried everything including throat sprays, nose sprays, breathe right strips, neti pot. Nothing works...<sigh>
