So angry at the hospital right now - rant!!!

Grrr, need a rant!

Had an appointment for a growth scan as LO is measuring 6 weeks too big. It was at 11 this morning, off I trotted at 10.30 from work, leaving my mate to cover (Both bosses are off as well today). Got sent down for the scan at 11.20 and was told to wait in the waiting room afterward (bout 11.30), was still sat there at 12.20, so I went to ask how long it was going to be.

Was told that they were running behind and someone would see me soon. texted work mate to say sorry, I was being held up but would be there as soon as possible. She was OK.

At 13.00, my name was finally called, and after loads of women who came in after me had gone down to add insult to injury. I was then left to wait in the consultation room for another 35 minutes, until the doctor (Not my usual one) came in and started going on about my antibody levels, until I stopped her and explained that I was there for a growth scan. She went back out and came back another ten minutes later saying she was sorry for all the delays but they couldn't find my test results and had had to phone the labs for them.......

She then said that although LO was measuring at 34 weeks (I'm 29) my fluid levels were fine and he just seems to be big. She booked me in for another scan in a month to keep a check on me.

I finally got back to work at 14.10 to find my work mate fairly upset about things as she had arranged to meet her GF for lunch (Who had posted a fairly lengthy rant on FB about everyone taking advantage of my mate, which to be fair my mate arrives an hour early, usually leaves a coupla hours late and has taken two days holiday so far this year).

She said she was mad at the bosses and that my situation couldn't have been helped and that our bosses should have know better than to both have the same day off. But I feel like a total shit now because of it.

I know it wasn't my fault and I said to OH while at the hospital if it had been an appointment just for me, I would have rebooked and gone.

Sorry for the lengthy rant, just needed it...... what started out as a really good day has been totally shot to shit.

Thanks Amybet, I'm deep breathing and have had some sneaky choc. I'm more upset at the fact I've upset my mate. She's so good to everyone and I feel like I've let her down (I know I haven't, but......)

Not your fault hun, don't feel bad. Your bosses should have worked things out better, hospital appointments are not something you can control. Big hugs xx

What a stressful day! It's all outwith your control - sometimes things are just pants, that's just the way it is. Try and take it easy and enjoy the chocolate.

Aw can see why you're pissed off! Totally true that your bosses shoudl've worked stuff out better and its annoying that the hospital seemed so confused; but ultimately it is more important for you to have your antenatal appointments than your colleague to go for lunch, even if she does work really hard (i'm sorry - i know that sounds harsh - but it is more important!) and I'm sure she understands that. Its not like it happens every day so dont beat yourself up XX

She's been good about it, she's come back now and said that she was sorry for being off. She blames the powers too.

She's really understanding about all the baby stuff and usually tells me off if I'm late eating my lunch or haven't taken my tablets. I think she was just looking forward to meeting her GF for lunch. We've hugged it out!! xxx I'm happy again.

Your hospital sound awful. Its totally not your fault about them keeping you there ages, waiting-it was annoying for you too, so don't feel bad.
