I went to our local surgery to book our planned c-section and instead of getting it booked i ended up being admitted to the maternity unit for assesment after telling the consultant midwife how much pain i was in and how the pain was around my previous c-section scar! the consultant midwife was worried that it may have been my scar tissue stretching and my uterus scar opening so she admitted me to have a scan. That appointment was at 9am and it took FOREVER to get on the road to the big hospital. It was 11:30am when we arrived at the maternity unit and were taken to a room. I was hooked up to monitor babys heart rate and movement for 50 minutes! i hadnt had anything to eat, so i was starving and desperately needed to pee! i had to press the buzzer when my bladder could take no more and the doctor apologized as she had forgotten about me we were told to go back to the waiting room to wait for ANOTHER doctor and when she eventually showed up i explained my pain and she told me i'd be given a scan. That could be any time up until 04:30pm!!! i was given two tablets that were 3,500mg of cocodamol for my pain. i was starving and asked if we could go for something to eat while we wait so we went to the canteen for lunch. half way through eating i was REALLY starting to feel the effects and i was high as a kite and couldnt stop laughing! my pains were easing with the cocodamol and it was great! I was a happy chappy for ages! We were eventually given a scan around 02:30pm that only lasted 5 minutes and everything was fine. STILL A BOY! and the sonographer said he weighs roughly 8lbs 2oz... at 37 weeks!!! i was gobsmacked! a very big baby so they werent surprised i was in so much pain! after the scan i went back to the doctor and she told gave me a sheet and told me to take it to a pharmacy for a prescription for cocodamol and then went on to tell me that they were fully booked for sections the next few weeks but they were 'making tweaks' and would phone me directly when they had a date available! RAGE! i was too tired to care by this point, so just went home! stopped at a pharmacy on the way home and turns out the doctor had given me a DISCHARGE SHEET and not an actual prescription! so i am now home feeling more pain than usual because of the amount of poking and prodding they were doing on my abdomen and no cocodamol! and i didnt even get a section date, thats what i went to the hospital for in the first place! the only good thing about my day is being off my face on cocodamol and being almost pain free for an hour or two! i am so exhausted and annoyed, why do hospitals have to take so bloody long?!
