So frustrated...

Hi ladies...

I just need to vent a bit. I am so frustrated with BF'ing right now. DD is feeding every hour almost and I am not getting any rest or time to do anything at all. She feeds for such a short period of time 10-15 mins and then usually will not take any more no matter what I try (and I have tried it all).

On top of that my nipples hurt. Her latch is good (had a public health nurse check)

Please tell me this is normal? I am starting to wonder if she is not getting enough nutrients from me etc. She has lots of wet diapers and poops though.

Totally normal honey - I'd say you are in the 2 week growth spurt.

She's getting everything she needs - dont let the doubts creep in!!! If she's weeing and pooing then everything is just peachy!!

You will feel a bit chained to the chair for a few days, possibly less if you're lucky BUT it's absolutely necessary as it will increase your supply to match her needs - the more she feeds the more you'll produce and the next growth spurt wont be as bad for you.

Hang in there honey - you are doing an AMAZING job already and come here to ask, rant and get the support you need - it's not easy BUT it is totally normal.

Totally normal hun. Like MM said, it is a growth spurt and they can be rought. Luckily they dont' last forever.

For the soreness. After she de-latches, express just a bit of milk and rub that around your nipple and let it airdry. You can also use a lanolin balm, Lansinoh is great. Also, when you shower just rinse the nipple off, you do not need to wash it. I found that sudsing up just made my nipples crack, which is the only time I had cracking.

Strap yourself in around 12 wks too I believe - although I have to say if Hebe has had or does have growth spurts since 6 weeks, I really dont notice them in terms of being a tough time for feeding anymore

The one that got to me was around 9 months. Man, he was nursing all the freaking time, I could not get enough to eat and it seemed to last a long time!

sounds like the 10th day demanding stage where as MM says they're puttin on a growth spurt and want to feed all the time. It does end you'll be glad to know. Keep on with it, you've done so well to get this far

It must have been the growth spurt She is back to 2 hours which is better then 1. I had her weighed today. When she left the hospital she was 6lbs 12oz and today she was 7lbs 6oz and had grown a 1/4 inch already. I guess I am doing something right.

well done hun. that is some weight gain - little one is obviously getting everyting she needs from you. My little one was having the 2 week growth spurt also a couple of days ago and it felt like he was feeding constantly for 3 days. Back to every 4 hours now - thank the lord!!!! xx
