Hi ladies!

First off, Lots and lots of sticky baby dust to all!

Here's my story: My DH(Scott;36 almost 37) and I(Kristin;23) have been married since May 2010, trying for baby number one for over a year now. I was recently diagnosed with PCOS but the doctor I went to said that I wasn't a candidate for Metformin cause my blood levels were normal. In February I bled basically the entire month and my OBGYN gave me hormone medication to stop the bleeding which helped a lot. Come April I had a normal AF lasting the regular 6-7 days. DH and I BD around the time I calculated my ovulation which would of been between April 17-20. Now May passed without AF showing herself and June 3/4 is when I normally start. I have taken multiple pregnancy test all showing negative. But I have been having a few symptoms like cramps in my lower abdominal area and on my sides, heartburn/indigestion non stop, queasy on and off, mild headaches, a roller coaster of mood changes, an itchy stomach, constipation/diarrhea (sorry TMI), hot flashes(which is odd for me cause I am always cold) and very little tingly of the bbs. I don't know what is going on. I calculated that if I am pregnant I would be 8 weeks but wouldn't a test be able to pick up that hormone or could it still be early? DH said we should wait to go to the doctor until I am at least 2 cycles late. Can I request an ultrasound to not only check the status of my cycts on my ovary but check if there is a baby in there? Sorry it's so long I just need some advise.

I would personally go to the doctor and get checked out. If it would put you at ease then it's worth it.

hun if you were 8 wks it should show on a hpt. Maybe you ovulated later than normal?

if it was me i would go to the doctor and get checked out.. better safe that sorry :)

Have to agree with this. HCG usually peaks between 8-12 weeks, so it should be showing up by now as you don't need a high level in your body to be detected. There are instances of HCG not showing up on HPTs until well into a pregnancy, but it's pretty uncommon.

Are you charting at all? I have PCOS as well and recently got back into charting. Last cycle, I ovulated on CD28 - 8 days later than I thought based on CM (what I was previously using as an ovulation guide) and 2 weeks later than a "standard" cycle. It's not uncommon for some women with PCOS to go months without ovulating.

If you're concerned, I would go to the doctor now. Don't know if they'd agree to an ultrasound without any other pregnancy confirmation first, but they should at least run blood tests. Good luck. :hugs:

Well I bought a BBT but I was told to wait until the first day of AF to start using it.... Is that correct information or should I start tomorrow?

I started taking my BBT mid cycle. More than anything it will help you get into the routine (in the beginning I would forget a lot of mornings!)

I too have PCOS, by my doc prescribed Metformin. As for the bleeding problems, I totally understand! Without hormones, I can have AF last up to 45 days.

With PCOS it's really hard, because you may or may not ovulate during a cycle. I didn't until I starting taking 1500mg Metformin/day. My GP is 100% dead set against me taking the Metformin, but my OBGYN & FS recommend it. And on my 2nd cycle on it I ovulated.

I see that you are in the States, and I know the medical system is different than Canada, but I think after a year of trying you should probably be seeing a specialist? My OBGYN sent me to a FS as soon as she knew I wasn't ovulating and I wanted to get pg. My FS does regular ultrasounds to check cysts, and has my blood checked once a month to check hormone levels.

Good luck to you.

Well my OBGYN (which wasn't my actual OBGYN cause my regular one was on maternity leave) sent me to this lady but she wasn't a FS. The place was for high risk pregnancies. So should I wait until my regular OBGYN and see what she has to say? I thought it was odd being sent to a place for high risk pregnancies when I wasn't even pregnant. Thank you and good luck to you too!
