so upset i just want to cry.
9 days before my due date and my DH gets laid off from his job i mean wtf. they apprently dont have enough work for him but will call him in 2 weeks to recheck his work status!!!!! i mean honestly who is going to take someone on this late in our pregnancy even if they did we wont get any money for him taking paternity leave he wont be entilted to it and thats if hes lucky enough to find a job that fast. i just find it so frustrating he told them my due date when he started working there about 4 months ago and they promised us there was plenty of work i mean theyve just taken someone else on to help with the work load :growlmad:. in my opnion this is all because he asked a few weeks ago for two weeks off when baby arrives sorry for the ramblings i just dint have anyone to speak to :cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry:

so sorry hun, it's never a good time but this is so unfair for you both xxx

Didn't want to R&R :hugs:

I am sure things will get worked out.

call the CAB hun, sounds like you may have a case of unfair dismisall...........

so sorry to hear about your bad luck

Take it to a union! Sounds very unfair. Hope it works put for you xxx

That sucks! Life is so cruel!! My husband has been out of work twice, if he is in the building type trade, that seems to happen ALL THE TIME! I dont think they consider family and that sort of thing. It's not like working in an office where you are valued.
:-( Try not to stress though, it can't be good for you and the little one.

Hang in there xx

Personally I think he has a case for unfair dismissal here, if as you say they've only just taken someone else on to help with the workload. I would get in touch with the Citizens Advice Bureau to see what they say, that's not on.

Agree with others re: unfair dismissal - especially if they'd recently employed somebody else and are now laying your OH off. Do they not have to give him notice or anything??

Does anyone here know how to set up a new thread?? Sorry I only joined today and I haven't a clue what i'm doing. HAHA

Thanks

I think you need to look at his terms of employment first, he hasn't been dismissed he's been laid off with a review date scheduled harsh but if the company is struggling what can they do?! As for taking another member of staff on that is only relevant if the member of staff is employed to do exactly the same job with the same level of expertise and are still getting their hours ok. It's hard all round in these situations but companies have to look at the picture for everyone involved. I hope it picks up sweetie!

It sounds a lot like they don't want to have to pay paternity leave to me...

So sorry to hear this. Hope he is able to find something else quickly.

Thank you all so much for your kind words. me and oh have decided to just get on with things hes a nice bloke and said he dosnt want to put his mates through a court etc so his choice i guess. on the bright side at least this way he will be able to help me out loads more before the baby is born so i guess it all worked out in the end. Thank you again girls your support is amazing :) xxx
